I know it was just a quick reminder of the quality we had. The Greeks were underrated! I can post videos to refresh your memory if you want. :D

Zalewski rejects Galatasaray. He overrates himself clearly.

Shit. He'll end up moving on for no fee now....unless he's willing to accept a similar salary as he's on now to stay.

I don't blame him for not wanting to move to Europe's retirement league at the age of 22.

Only Mourinho is desperate enough to go to a place with a better doner kebab game than football game.

If he doesnt accept they need to figure out a new contract. Give he a permanent position as a back up left wing back. No more plugging gaps at his age and he may find the consistency again that he had when he first played. He beats people well from the left and while delivery is very hit and miss, the whole team is lacking in an understanding of how to create chances.

Well things have escalated pretty quickly.

Confirmed: Zalewski rejects Galatasaray, Roma freeze him out of De Rossi’s squad

We had a great deal with the Turks. 11 milion + bonus. Zalewski could've made more than 2 milion a year.

He should have accepted that deal. Even if he played for a year or two, he could have done well and gone to a more serious situation.

Two sides to the story. He has a contract here.I dont blame him for not wanting to go the the European MLS at his age and I dont see it as good business freezing him out of the squad.

If we don't plan on using him regularly - which DDR apparently won't - you have to let him sit in the stands so that he wants to move in January. His (or more likely his agents') demands to Galatasaray were absurd. He supposedly wanted an increase of his salary from 0.5m to 3.2m, a 0.5m signing bonus and a 15m release clause. The latter probably so that he can play the same game again next summer.

He could have a place in the squad if we switch back to 3atb but the salary he demands is just too high. He had other offers than the one from Galatasaray throughout the summer but rejected them.

A messy situation but that there puts a different spin on Roma's reaction. A shame another youth product that showed promise goes wrong.

I would do the same if I was him. He’ll get a lot of offers next summer that will be better for his career in the long run. If Conte is still at Napoli I could definitely see him there.

Not playing an entire season is an awful thing for an unproven 22 year old. If he didn't want to go to Turkey, he should've accepted Roma's offer. This way, the best he can hope for is to find some club to pick him up in January, but that's still 4 months without any football.

He is an already established international at this point so there will be no end of clubs who will be after him.

Where were they this summer when we were trying to sell him? Only PSV was interested and now Galatasaray.

If he ends up at a better team next season, I would say it’s still better than ending up in Turkey for the next three or four years.

There’s no tournaments next summer so he’s not at risk of hurting his national team chances.

Maybe they were waiting for this situation to unfold with his contract. Hes 22 and already has 23 caps for a decent nation like Poland. That puts you in a certain bracket. There will be clubs waiting for him.

He was available for 10m so other clubs either don't rate him high enough to pay even such a low sum or to meet his salary demands. Probably the latter since we proposed a renewal which - just like any other offer - he declined. He definitely won't get an offer from a better club than us and others won't pay him more than 2m a year. If we freeze him out he'll be happy to get another offer from clubs like PSV or Galatasaray.

We'll see how this plays out over 6 to 12 months. Theres a few possibilities why he said no to Roma though. The extreme wage he demanded of Gala makes sense from his pov but I doubt he demands that for a team remotely close to Romas level in a top European league. If youre going to potentially make a negative career move at 22, you might as well secure bank. Lots of players drop out of the top leagues and they struggle to get back. Quickly a promising career can past you by with a poor contract choice. PSV would have been a good move though imo as its a clear stepping stone league.
