Re: Lupoli to Napoli this summer?

He want's to go back to Italy (don't blame him). Doesn't quite have it to cut it at Arsenal's level... a bit too light weight.

    isaksson

theres talk of him leaving man city due to lack of game time, and as jens is probably off next season what do u think of bringing him here?

whenever ive seen him he looks very solid indeed, reminds me of cech

would he be a viable purchase?

And so why is he not getting any game time? Maybe it's because he is never fit?

cus nicky weaver is playing well, no reason to drop him

isaksson is so much better than almunia

    Re: isaksson

I seem to remember that we looked at Isaksson a couple of years ago when he was in top form at Rennes. However, wasn't the reason that he ended up at ManCity in the first place was that he failed to stay in top form so none of the top clubs were still interested? That is how I seem to remember it going. There are other keepers out there with consistent good play that I'd rather see us bring in to replace Jens. We've mentioned most of them in the various transfer threads.

Almunia has improved but is still not a top GK and I don't see him improving enough to be a good replacement. I'm hoping Wenger is just saying what he's said in order to keep a decent backup keeper happy. I'd be very unhappy if we went into next season with Almunia starting each game.

    Re: isaksson

im just pointing this out as an option

cannon i thought his decline from the limelight was through injury?

theres alot of good young gks avilable atm

gordon, akinfeev, carson, foster, kirkland and ive heard good things about pele

i guess wenger knows best and this will be sorted ready for next season

Not a chance Isaksson will leave espespecially since now weaver is injured and the other city keepers Schmeichel and Hart are on loan

I would imagine that Carson, Foster and Kirkland wouldn't be available to us...

Not to mention Kirkland is hardly the player we want with our excessive injury list..

Almunia is looking pretty good at present, and this from a keeper who doesn't get much playing time. He's not exactly rusty. Compare him with Dudek at Liverpool who was. I'd like to think Almunia would improve even more with a run in the team...

Here we go again: Fernando Torres to Arse?

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Fernando Torres is interested in coming to Arsenal over ManUre since he "reportedly" believes that Arsenal is the better fit for him. This says nothing of the credibility of the Mirror, but I'm just throwing out the speculation.

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/topst...objectid=18582218&siteid=94762-name_page.html

While I believe Torres is a better fit here over ManU, I'm not sure that we need/want him. If we have our existing striker core returning and healthy next season (along with some of the kids like Bendtner), I see little reason to pursue Torres unless we get a sweetheart deal - and that happens if he truly does want to come here on a free transfer. Discuss...

I would like him, but he is very expensive and we have tons of younger cheaper strikers that can do just fine.

"the daily mirror is reporting" = BS

i agree with the rest of your post = arsenal's strikers are young and promising. don't see arsene splashing cash for him. i would rather see a healthy gallas on the pitch :D

he wont come here(certainly not yet anyway), there are a number of reasons why. heres just 2
    1) too expensive, wenger wouldnt be interested in the fee he would command.
    2) altho i believe he we become an important player for us, i think wenger would prefer to use the players he has, even after titi

not only that, but, where in that article does he say he wants to go arsenal? no where. he doesnt talk about us at all. only to say that we play attacking football. they have added the bit about us and accredited that to 'it is believed' which straight away indicates thats the article is a load of old tosh
i wouldnt read too much into that article. infact, i wouldnt read into it at all

Is his contract almost up? If so I'd definitely take him on a free and pay him 100,000 pounds a week. It would be worth it and the only way we'd realistically be able to afford him.

I thought Torres just signed and extension at the beginning of the season?

He did sign a contract extension this summer.

We would not be able to get into a bidding war over him with all the teams that were interested.

And even if we could, we have 5 strikers in the team right now, with 1 more returning at the end of the season. Where on earth is he going to slot in?

Atletico are my Spanish team (to the extent that I have one) so I've followed Torres a bit, and he is very good and very young. That being said, we have so much talent up-front, I'm not sure we should be spending money there. I think it would cost us $45 million in transfer fees.

The only way I could see it working is have Henry as an attacking midfielder setting up the forwards, but still one if not 2 of our many strikers would be gone for sure.
