I have not seen this news anywhere, but I don't think this is the type of player Dortmund should be after. He does not want to play outside Spain, he is expensive and you need to tweak a lot of things to fit him in
Yes definitely not. There's only one deal to make and that deal is a game changer. Havertz is the only signing to make and let's see if Reus/Brandt can sway him. The Sancho deal is done. It looks like it will be 70/30/20 paid over three years. City unfortunately will get 20 million Euros. We should offer Leverkusen any of our midfielders except Can/Brandt.
I really want Kai at Bayern but I will rather concede him to Dortmund than strengthen another English club. Getting Kai can even make Haaland stay longer, Harvetz can be the Reus replacement long term
I'm just glad we didn't get Torres, enough of nurturing Spanish talent. As for James, I frankly don't get the hype. Ever since he became the top goalscorer at the 2014 World Cup he hasn't done anything of note.
As i said, James isnt a WC player, has never been, very hyped.. But he is def better than Gotze or Schurlle, they cost like him. James is a very useful rotanion player, the problem is he dowant want to be a rotation
He will also demand a crazy salary, therefore he's not worth the trouble. BTW, I don't see any signs of BVB showing the slightest interest in Havertz, which is worrying.
Would Havertz be interested? Could Brandt help persuade him? Maybe the selling club reputation plus Favre being coach will put him off, he seems quite ambitious.
He is rumoured for Chelsea and Lampard, I don't really see the ambition in that. Chelsea is not better than Dortmund.
I wouldn't b soo sure baout that ... the waY Chelsea have gone about their transfer business makes them a title contender ... and with Lampard, and thAT RUssian Oligarch money, it would b foolish to rule them out of title contention. I would even say they aRE CL contenders for next season. and it also looks by the sounds of it, tHAT JADon might have changed his mind on the Man U transfer, leading Watzke to claim no contact as a face saving measure ... I wonder if Liverpool got to him, and have offered him a transfer the comming season at a reduced fee. I find it hard to believe that they would have paSSED ON WERNEr without a contingency plan. It serves Dortmund too, in the sense that continuation will most likely lead to a title this year ... even with Favre as coach.
Chelsea is miles ahead of Dortmund. They can afford almost everyone they want.. If you can randomly choose 10 elite players, i say half of them can be brought to Chelsea.. I dont think we would have a change at even 1 player like that...
I'd love Havertz, of course, and the continuation of the Havertz-Brandt duo would be great but are we really surprised that we aren't going for him when it wasn't even possible for Bayern? Even without Corona which caused a loss of 45 million for the year, he wouldn't have been possible for us. Now, if the board surprises us all and reinvests all the Sancho money for Havertz it'd be fantastic but I think we all know what is realistic and what isn't.
The talk was 3 installments, 70m up front. The management are now saying there has been no contact though, so if they stick to the deadline then it appears a move may not happen this summer.
Caglar Soyuncu in Barca.. Damn i remember he was on our radar when he was in Freiburg, i thought wtf, why him, who is he? He was pretty good in PL and become 1 of the best young CBs in the world
So according to süddeutsche zeitung there has been no contact between the clubs and it is unlikely that Man Utd will meet the asking price. If this is true I admire the management for sticking to their guns, however it is a risky policy given that next year he will only have 1 year remaining. What needs to happen for this to work out well is for Sancho has a great season and Dortmund wins a trophy and/or Man Utd flop and don!t make CL. If either or both scenario happens then the hard nosed tactic will have paid off, which in the long run will be good for Dortmund as it will show that they won't be pushed around. On top of that if Man Utd don't have a good season their board will get a lot of criticism for not paying the extra 40-50m and if there are any future negotiations over players they will be under pressure to pay the asking price. On the other hand if Dortmund has a season similar to last (likely to happen with Favre still there) and Man Utd continue to improve then it is likely that Sancho will end up moving there next year for a much lower price, which would have a negative affect both financially and on future negotiations. Imo whatever happens if Sancho does not move to Man Utd this summer Dortmund MUST make sure to sell him to a different club next year.
Im quite sure that is not true at all.. All English media and some very reliable journalist saying the deal is very close, i guess today or tommorow it will be finished.
The consistent line from the German media is that the 120m Euro price and Monday deadline are ironclad. This is also in line with past situations - once Watzke and Zorc set a price, there's little to no room for haggling it down. The other factor being reported is that Sancho prefers to move, but is happy enough sticking around should United decide that the fee is too high. Watzke also noted in the same SZ article that he doesn't expect him to cause any problems along the lines of Aubameyang and Dembélé (note that in those cases BVB still received its asking price).
In this case add ons would mean simply paying in installments, or some trivially achievable bonuses which are almost 100% certain to be triggered. Either way Dortmund will receive 120m, or Sancho will stick around for the coming season.
Should Sancho stay, BVB will reportedly increase his salary from 6m to 10m. Would be nice to tack another year on his contract as well.
Adding an extra year to his contract would be absolutely crucial in this, otherwise I struggle to see the benefit?
The same was done with his recent increase to 6 million and for Lewa's last season: A significant salary bump to the level he deserves even without a contract extension to keep the player happy. While looking for the date of the deadline (around the coming Monday), I stumbled upon an article from early July that even back then thought that a transfer was pretty unlikely. What is demanded for Sancho is apparently way beyond what ManU intended to pay (55 million €).
55 million € is an insult. Yeah I remember the Lewa increase, that was also a very questionable decision imo. 1 extra year from the player at an increased salary on top of then losing out on serious money on the transfer fee. At least in Sancho's case he wont go for free like Lewa did, but his fee will still be a lot lower with only 1 year remaining come next summer.
For one it probably is a good policy to pay top performers in line with their contributions, even if it helps in the short term to have young players locked up on value contracts. In this case it seems like Sancho is being fairly agreeable in his stance with BVB, and a good faith pay bump doesn't hurt the cause. An extension sounds like a good deal for both sides - if I'm Sancho I would definitely value €4m of my own money for the coming year over €40m of United's transfer funds next summer. One more good year by Jadon and you could have a number of other clubs across Europe joining the chase.
Exactly why would Havertz come to a stepping stone club like us when he can go directly to the team who wants to compete? He doesn't need play time, he already has that... ** We really need to rethink our strategy regarding selling our young talent. Last time we were able to keep them long enough is the last time we won anything worth mentioning...
