Can was horrible at CB for Germany, why sign him to play out position. It makes no sense. If he's signing as a midfielder then it's not terrible, although pretty expensive. To pay that much for an extremely mediocre CB is crazy though.

If you want a striker on the pitch then select a striker. If you want a CB sign a CB. Why over-complicate things with false 9's and hybrid CDM/CB bullshit?

Can also limits Raschl's path into first team contention ... strange that they would purchase him. In my opinion, he was terrible at Liverpool, inspite of positive reviews. He has a propensity to run the length of the field leaving pockets of space behind him, and is ridiculously slow at tracking back which is something Klopp criticised him for at one point. I suppose this spells a benching for Akanji, much too late.

    Poor transfer.

Can is a done deal, a loan with obligation to buy in the summer for 25M!

If he isn't up to par, Can you refuse the obligation to buy?

Uh..pun intended I suppose? I think the loan-to-buy scheme is just to put the transfer fee on the next fiscal year's books.

The reports I've read from the likes of Kicker all point to Can being a signing for defense and not midfield. I also think that this position is Can's only chance to make the NT roster for the Euros so there won't be an issue from his side accepting this role. He might work out for us in a 3 man CB formation and LP as CB hasn't looked good in the recent games. But watching Can being played with only one CB next to him, you'd probably have the same shitting your pants feeling that you get from his NT games there. I haven't followed him at Juve so I don't know how he looked when/if he was used in defense.
But I'm not saying he doesn't have his qualities (rather for other positions than CB though) and I'd be happy if he helps stabilize our defense.

Kicker says the team and player are still arguing about his salary. It looks it will be something in the 10 million range which is too much for our standards in my opinion.

But why not sign an actual CB instead?

Can is mediocre at CB, so to pay him 10 million to play there makes no sense. He is ok in midfield, would at least add some physicality. But not for that price.

Surely that money could be better spent elsewhere?

Emre Can is a mediocre player at best. What a waste of money.

Isak is one of rare young players that didnt had a fair chance in Dortmund and i found that very strange, cause he was not a small transfer. We bought him fot 8M ahead of clubs like Real, Juve and other elite clubs, he was tagged "New Ibrahimovic".
His playing time in Dortmund was very limited

I can agree on that, but on the other side he needed a change and have something secure. He saw that he wouldn’t have a chance under LF. When Haaland goes for 75m next summer, we’ll get Isak for 30. By that time Isak is going to be a beast in attack

€75m for Haaland is going to be a very cheap price for someone. He will instantly be worth double that in today’s market.

Haaland’s release clause doesn’t activate until 2022. You figure new terms will have been worked out by then.

With Raiola involved I wouldn’t be too sure. He probably stands to take a significant cut out of any fee.

Minimum 120M has to be release clause in the next 2 years and you have a bunch of clubs who are able to pay that amount of money, 4-5 clubs from Eng, Psg, Juve, Real, Barca..
