Starting a new permanent thread for all transfer discussion, rumours and confirmations. With the season approaching its end, the club has been working behind the scenes for next season. Zeno Debast, 19 year old CB from Anderlecht, according to most media sources is a done deal for Sporting this summer. The rumoured cost is around 18M euros. There is also rumours that we want Greek striker Ionnadis next who would be 10M+. Looks like the strategy is to buy quality and not quantity again.
Debast, Young central defender who is heavily linked to us, is called up to the Belgian national team to play in the Euros.
We are on the verge of signing a new GK to replace Adan. 26 year old Vladan Kovacevic is the target and a deal looks imminent for around 5M euros. He plays for Rakow, and faced us twice in the Europa League group stage this season. 192 cm tall with sharp reflexes and good with the ball his feet according to scouting reports, two things Amorim demands for GK. Debast has also already been at the training grounds in Lisbon and the deal is virtually down for around 18M. Question is, which of our current CBs will be sold?
Can't say I know much about the guy and on paper he doesn't seem very exciting, but Sportings scouting the last couple years has been pretty insane. Looking forward to seeing him play, a gk that is actually good with the ball at his feet would add so much to the way Amorim plays. I feel like Inacio is the obvious CB to leave. He probably deserves a shot in a bigger league and has had a great year. I would've said Diomande earlier in the year, but he's been pretty rough since the AFCON. Still, if Inacio leaves Matheus is the only left footed CB.
Official: Vladan Kovacevic signs on a 5 year deal and a 60M euro release clause. The deal is estimated between 5-6M euros. The 26 year old goalkeeper is our first official signing for next signing and replaces Antonio Adan.
We need a guy that's reliable, in the league we typically only face a couple of shots a game against 90% of teams and Adan was letting every shot in. He seems very comfortable coming out for crosses too which is a plus. And relatively low cost, so we can focus money on other positions
Zeno Debast confirmed that he will be a Sporting player next season. 16m that can go up to 20m for a highly rated CB that already went to the 2022 world Cup and is likely starting for Belgium this Euro.
Well this came out of left field ... Sporting is currently in negotiations to sell Paulinho to... Mexican side Toluca
Weird thing is with how well he played as a sub this last season I'd actually be a bit disappointed to lose him
True but if we get 10m for a 32 yr old who might not return these numbers, we can put it towards a guy like Ionnadis who we've been courting and could return more
More details on Debast deal. 15.5m euro transfer fee 5.5m in objectives (every 30 games completed we'd pay a chunk of this until 120 games + win the league title)
Here's a random one. Remember Renato Veiga from our academy who was sold last year for 4 mill? He's on the verge of signing for Chelsea 🚨🔵 EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea agree deal to sign Portuguese talent Renato Veiga from FC Basel!2003 born left footed versatile defender/midfielder set to leave Basel training camp to join Chelsea.Package will be worth €14/15m, personal terms agreed. Here we go 🇵🇹 pic.twitter.com/i2TQdDVqym— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 5, 2024
South American media are reporting Coates is on the verge of signing for Nacional Montevideo in Uruguay. A bit concerned we are losing all our leaders in the locker room.
Obrigado Seba! Thought we'd see 1 more season with him transitioning more to the bench but for personal family reasons he's moving back to Uruguay. 369 games for the club, multiple trophies... Hopefully he gets the homage he deserves. A living legend of the club
Too bad he was still balling at the end of last year …. True leader who loved the team, he will be missed but I hope his family situation improves…. But family always first he is doing the right thing
Big leadership hole left open with Coates’ departure. Wish him the best. Guess Inacio isn’t leaving this summer? What are the biggest needs still this summer? Backup striker, another CM, and maybe RB? Only adds so far at Debast, Mateus Fernandes and Kovacevic,
I would add a LB with more dribbling and technique to compete with Nuno Santos, not sure Matheus Reis is it anymore
