Well, the 20/21 season ended just today, but I was curious as to what transfer rumours are already out there. VfB have already added Turkish playmaker Omer Beyaz to the squad along with Alou Kuol, who played in the Aussie A-League this season. Now they are rumoured to be interested in Paris-St. Germain academy player Tidjany Chabrol.
Omer Beyaz is only 17 years old and appeared for Fenerbahce once this season, and four times in 2019/2020. Alou Kuol has 7 goals in 22 matches for the Central Coast Mariners this season and is 19.
The latest news is that Borussia Dortmund are buying Gregor Kobel, beating out Tottenham for his signature.
Nach Sky-Infos soll der #Kobel-Transfer zum BVB am Montag verkündet werden. #VfB #VfBTransfers https://t.co/4i9rXfybdl— VfBTransfers (@VfBTransfers) May 29, 2021
And Stuttgart are getting Kobel's replacement from Mainz, who was on loan to Freiburg: Der Nachfolger steht offenbar schon bereit. #VfB #VfBTransfers https://t.co/kGNyzLRf3M— VfBTransfers (@VfBTransfers) May 29, 2021
Marcin Kaminski is transferring, on a free, to Schalke 04 in the 2nd BL. Marcin #Kaminski hat ablösefrei bei Schalke 04 unterschrieben. Alles Gute, Marcin. #VfB #VfBTransfers https://t.co/NBT8vQPvZ1— VfBTransfers (@VfBTransfers) May 27, 2021
Good to see that we got Kobel's replacement right away. I guess Kaminski didn't get much playing time with VfB, but hopefully we will bring in some defender replacements since it looks like Mavropanos might not get loaned out to us again next season.
Both Tottenham United and Brighton are chasing Nico Gonzalez, who is rated at Euros 16 million. Hmm, not sure what to think about this. He didn't play much last season, but when he did, he scored goals and assisted on several.
Here is an interesting article: VfB Stuttgart oiling the Germany football machine https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bunde...g-club-oiling-germany-s-football-engine-16152
32 y.o. Sven Schipplock is returning to VfB after a few years away with other teams. This should add some maturity/leadership to a young defense: Sven Schipplock kehrt zurück!Der 32-jährige Mittelstürmer wird ab der neuen Saison als Führungsspieler der #VfBU21 in der @RL_Suedwest auf Torejagd gehen.Willkommen zurück, Schippo!#jungundwild #schippoisback pic.twitter.com/z5x6iWqPwD— VfB Nachwuchs (@jungundwild) June 3, 2021
Right. He played in 32 matches for Arminia Bielefeld, but only scored one goal. Considering he was in the final match against VfB, I am also surprised that I didn't recognize the name either. His career has been one of rare scoring, unfortunately. https://us.soccerway.com/players/sven-schipplock/38439/ He will play back up to Kalajdzic, I suppose since Nico Gonzalez might be on the way out.
Latest news from the transfer front: Brighton will pay 25 million pounds for Nico Gonzalez. AC Milan are chasing after Sasa Kalajdzic. VfB Stuttgart have resigned Hamadi Al Ghaddioui to a one-year contract extension. Florian Muller has signed with VfB from Mainz 05. (Winoman mentioned this earlier.) Arsenal are open to selling Mavropanos to VfB Stuttgart. Silas Katompa Mvumpa received a 3-month ban for having played under an alias. The ban ends September 12, which means he misses the first month of the new season.
VfB approached Club Brugge during the winter transfer window for their want-away striker David Okereke. Despite him being the club record signing a couple of seasons ago, he fell out of favor with the trainer and only started 7 league matches. If we get big money from the Gonzalez and (possible) Kalajdzic sales, I could see VfB approaching Brugge once again.
Fiorentina have offered VfB Euros 27 million for Nico Gonzalez, so it looks like he will head that direction rather than to Tottenham or Brighton. Along with the Kobel money, that should give us some shopping money for a Castro replacement, or potential Kalajdzic backup.
This (I don't know how reliable) says that VfB are interested in Lukas Nmecha of Anderlecht. 'Eerste Duitse gegadigde duikt op voor Nmecha, VfB Stuttgart wil spits' : https://t.co/1aC3psbr44 #VfBStuttgart #RSCAnderlecht— VoetbalPrimeur.be (@VoetbalPrimeurB) June 21, 2021
He scored 18 goals in 37 matches for Anderlecht last season. Seems like a worthy replacement for starting forward considering the Euros that we are getting for Gonzalez and (possibly) Kalajdzic. Gonzalez was rated at Euros 16m but will go for Euros 27m so that is a large markup, eh?
It looks like Arsenal and VfB Stuttgart have settled on their Mavropanos deal. VfB take him for another 1-year loan deal, and then sign him for 3 years if they stay in the 1.B after next season. (Obligated if they stay up; option if they get relegated.) The price is fairly cheap, IMHO, Pounds Sterling (PS) 500k for loan, and PS 3m if they buy, with bonuses up to PS 1.5m. VfB out-negotiated Arsenal on this one.
A Japanese central defender, Hiroki Ito, will join the VfB U21 next season from J-League 2nd division Jubilo Iwata. At the age of 22, they figure he will have the chance to move up to the 1.B squad fairly quickly. https://www.vfb.de/en/vfb/latest/news/professionals/2021/transfer-hiroki-ito-kopie/
VfB beat St. Gallen 3-0 in a pre-season friendly with Hamadi Al Ghaddioui scoring all three goals. First half lineup (guessing at some spots): Sankoh Beyaz, Forster Mola, Karazor, Ahamada, Massimo Ito, Anton, Mavropanos Müller Second half: Al Ghaddioui Didavi, Meyer Cisse, Klement, Nartey, Coulibaly Kempf, Mack, Stenzel Müller Alou Kuol replaced Meyer in the 73rd minute.
No, I don't know where to see VfB pre-season matches. The Dutch club that I follow (Feyenoord Rotterdam) has a youtube channel on which they post pre-season matches and highlights. Does VfB have such a channel. Maybe I will check that out. Otherwise, I have gotten my footie fix by watching the Euro 2020 matches and the final of Copa America.
It looks like all the testspiele are free to watch on VFBTV: https://vfbtv.vfb.de/tv/saison/testspiele/ They host it live, so Darmstadt is already up. I subscribed for a couple of seasons and thought it was a good deal for the Bundesliga matches.
