googled who he is.... he switching his nationality to Peru.... insane these kids give up on their National teams before 23... its like 0 patience unless he honestly prefers Peru Think we lost a few players to Venezuela. One was like a U17 or 20 captain. Then jumped ship.
Puerta is Colombian and does not have a EU passport…. that effects his value. If he was Portuguese or English it would be at least 4-5x this amount

Last chance for this dude before clubs give up on him. Hopefully missing the WC sparks a fire under him. Great opportunity tho going back to Aston Villa would have been great too. His club wants him to greatly lower his wages... so he kind of has them by the balls. They don't want him, no one can pay 20m wages especially for his terrible production last 2 loan spells. pretty sure he will have to take a wage cut to go to Benfica. then it goes down to how well he does. If he can stay at Benfica taking a ridiculous wage cut or go to the EPL. Either way he going to have to come down from 20m/season and the Saudi team that owns him will take a huge lost when they sell him. No one is ever giving them 70m for him unless he had gone to the WC and scored 12 and lifted the trophy for us. Even then his last year of being total shti head would have scared teams away
I just hope Duran doesn't end up being a bad influence on Richard Rios if he joins Benfica. Duran's partying and off the pitch behavior have already hurt his own career, and Rios also seems like the type who might enjoy that lifestyle and get influenced. I'd hate to see him get dragged into the same habits instead of focusing on his football.
My brother is married to a paisa, and she has this extensive family (of course), and one of her relatives is married to Duran's uncle. From what my brother told me (told by the third removed cousin's wife) JD went to Medellin for his professional tryouts and stayed with this family for a few weeks/months and apparently he was horrible to them, to the point that (go figure) they're not speaking to him anymore. When JD started finding success (don't know if it was EPL or MLS), some criminals tried to coerce the uncle into giving them money, because JD is rich now... The uncle's answer was that he was not in speaking terms with him, so they could forget about getting any money. Also, apparently his partying is so hard, that all the neighbors around wherever his home is, had complained because it lasts all night and it's loud an chaotic. I really don't see a path for his redemption but hopefully someone can give this kid some perspective.
I am just glad he left a good impression on Mourinho in the brief time they were together in Turkey. Hopefully he plays well under his leadership and does not make him look like an idiot for giving him a chance. (Assuming it is a done deal.)
Ya unfortunately this all fits the picture we're getting of this guy, no sense and he likes to party. Overall this is a godsend move for him, strikers can feast in Portugal and our guys tend to do well there, its structured enough that its not a joke or some small club but the league is weak enough that he'll get plenty of chances to score. I don't think he deserves it and idk if he'll be a success, but its an amazing opportunity for a guy who has messed up so many opportunities, hopefully he can turn it around but my bet is he won't and at minimum he'll need a few more years to mess up and either be done or wise up and change his ways.

Mourinho and Silva have the same agent. Shows you how much I follow club offseason moves. I did not think Jose to Madrid was officially done. I guess Silva knows him from the premier league days?
