U really think Portland is a more serious team then Villarreal? Or does a better a job of getting players ready to move on to even bigger clubs?
I don't think it's a more serious team but I will say Portland is one of the few legit passionate fan bases for the sport. Whatever his reason, he's likely familiar with our history in the league and may have found it more appealing; if Europe was on the table, wouldn't he choose that first? Makes me wonder if there was even a offer. Also considering that he's 19 he's still young. And don't forget it's more common now for European clubs to take talent from the MLS; especially when Liga MX has seeming been asking for more than what their players are worth.
Number exactly? Well aside from us (NYCFC) losing our star player Tatty Casetellanos to LA Liga (verified today in fact) this was recent from the winter transfer window in January of 2022; it's general and the sumer transfer window isn't done so I think they will also eventually do a list as such. https://www.google.com/amp/s/en.as.com/en/2022/02/02/soccer/1643763600_417157.html?outputType=amp You can also look at Wikipedia under "List of Major League Soccer transfers" for more info if you wanna run your statics purely on South American Talent.
So Tatty got loaned to another City group club. How many players has Portland developed and sold to Europe? That’s great if you want to go to a MMLS club just don’t piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining. In no world is Portland a more serious team then Villarreal.
Calm your nipples guy, I am making a point that it must have been the "best" offer for him as we don't know if he was given a chance to go to Villareal or not. For all we know he possibly never really had a chance to go there. Also, Tatty is NOT expected to come back to the MLS/NYCFC; not only did he give a farewell interview but NYCFC has already began to look at replacements for him long-term considering how long he was at the club. And what point is it as to how a single team Portland Timbers has sent talent to Europe? My point with what I referenced is that it's not impossible for someone to play in the MLS and make it to Europe. Stop acting like a whiny bitch just because of a chance that he goes to the MLS first. What he does from this point on is on him and it's up to him; the same as any other player in MLS who succeeds in going to Europe, South American or not.
I think Sierra means that Villarreal werent being serious in the negotiation/pursuit. I read it to mean than Villarreal didn't move past feelers to a serious offer, not that the Timbers are a more serious team. That said, the Timbers are a well run, money making team with excellent attendance and a solid tv deal. Also, I love Portland.
Nobody in Europe thought enough of Tstty to pay for him. Therefore he is being loaned out a sister club in hope that someone in Europe will buy him because obviously nobody in Europe rates what he did in the MMLS.
If you read the replies Sierra agrees with me and doesn’t buy DIM’s reasoning. In fact nobody really does beside Froboy, because he has a hard on for the MMLS.
I thought the Timbers were well know for covering up domestic violence and trying to silence the victim.
I hadn't heard of this incident, thanks for making me aware. https://theathletic.com/news/mls-fi...stic-violence-against-andy-polo/qbQHZvHZpjUk/ My only experience with PDX is that it's a fun city to live in with a terrific fan base and uniquely passionate experience in the States. It's really disappointing to hear how that case was handled. My only guess from an Ocham's Razor standpoint is that Villarreal had only a speculative interest to start with and DIM had leaked it to try to draw other bidders or bring up the Timbers bid.
