Above all, I think the relationship between the two clubs, even if the ownership has shifted, is still strong. Outside of that, it's possible that Marseille wanted nothing but the full rights. I think it has to do with both clubs' philosophy. Granada and Watford prefer making their money through transfers rather than competing for titles, which Marseille wishes to. A good season in first division and Suarez' value will skyrocket. Given his performance in La Segunda, he's more likely to succeed in Granada than at Marseille. So, both clubs may end up making much more money off of him than selling him off to Marseille now.

Happy for him but I am concerned that with how Barca is right now, that it's not a good time for him to be on the first team...at least I hope that Barca does get their shit together for when and if they decide to actually use him aside from their B squad.

I mean teams are cooking their books because of FFP. It’s kind of moving a player between bank accounts and saying he worth more. Playing first division minutes along with Queiroz already mentioning him in a recent interview does seem to set things up for Suarez to finally get his chance. I am not sure he will leap frog the guys you mentioned plus Morelos. Plus Cordoba has been on his preliminary roster. But who knows? I like what I have seen so far in the lower division and if he would have gone to Watford we probably would not have seen him until 2022.
