Exactly. It isn't like he was facing ferocious attacking teams weekly in Ligue 1 or anything.

Not really worried about Gigio and wherever he ends up landing if he's still getting CL minutes.

    Thank God.

I heard about Fenerbache stepping in after the Galatasaray proposal was rejected.

While I'm glad Gigio is going there I don't understand City's rationale.

Pep wants his GK's to play out of fhe back and Gigio is not capable. Ederson had 4 Assists last year, there is no way Gigio is capable of this. Ederson is only 32 Years Old.

Very happy with Gigio to City ..i prefer him there than at PSG.. he is incredible for Italy and in the CL because he faces shots and gets in a rhythm in Ligue 1 he just stands there while PSG dominate every team. Im positive this stunted his development as great as he is he can still go to another level.

PSG fans are coping that it isnt a big loss for them. Every manager that PSG beat besides the final said the difference was Donnarumma and it was. The idea that PSG had a great defence was overblown when Donnarumma was preventing 1-2 clear goals a game with wonder saves.

They're changing their philosophy and Pep may not be long for City anyway. Donnarumma will out live Pep. Ederson is a mediocre shot stopper in the CL. It's a massive upgrade if the goal is to win knockout games which it should be.

We will see how he copes with the high press of the Premier League but I think he will be much more sharp because of it and surprise people.

I wonder where he will play with their pretty flat 352 maybe as a second striker ... he does fit their mold of big guys with some technical ability. Zaniolo is still hard to believe how much his career has been derailed. He will never reach the world class level he looked like he could but I won't rule out a Cassano at Sampdoria like rebirth for him. Maybe he just needs his own small Italian club where he isnt fighting for a place. Atalanta and Fiorentina were also both too competitive for him.

Baldanzi said to be staying at Roma as they haven't been able to find a replacement to allow his loan to Verona. This dosen't bode well for his minutes under Gasperini.

    Well said, Toronto.

Enrique and some PSG fans have quite the short memory. He seems to fixate on wanting to build up to play and I get that but we don't need to kid ourselves -- PSG doesn't make the CL Final without Donna and his heroics. Yes the CL Final was a complete massacre and any warm body would have sufficed, but that's one game on the road to a title. Shootouts, key stops, etc- he's built such an intimidating persona between the sticks and his shot stopping is the best in the world, period.

Udinese complete the signings for both Zanoli and Zaniolo. That puts their number of italians at 3 (What a revolution). Zanoli can be good as a RWB. Hopefully this is the permanent home for him.

For Zaniolo this is his “last chance” but I felt like I’ve said that already 3 times in two seasons.

Benfica sign Roma youth player Federico Coletta for 1m ... who knows what will come of it but that's a good clue league for young Italians much better than going to Serie B for the quality/pace experience.

Bertola looked pretty good against Inter I figured he must be good if he was an Italian Udinese were using lol... their strategy seems to be tall and strong at every position.

    Last minute Napoli deals:

Hasa loaned out to Carrarese (Better than nothing)

Ambrosino and Vergara stay put. For Ambrosino he’s probably going to get very little playing time. But for Vergara, they say that Conte really likes him

Yeah seems like they had a shift in their player recruitment after last season. So Pafundi didn’t really stand a chance.

Cagliari last minute deal for Belotti who comes in to replace Piccoli. I really think Piccoli should have stayed put at Cagliari. I don’t have good feelings about his success at Fiorentina

yeah I worry for Pafudi Liberali Baldanzi types there dosen't seem to be a position for them in any of the modern systems managers are playing.

Aquliani played another Italian teenager Alphadjo Cissè in his 352 on the weekend with Liberali not even coming off the bench. It's like if youre not built to be box to box you don't get to play anymore. The new creative player is a Barella type.

Alphadjo Cissè looks decent but Liberali was far more hyped at youth level and obviously far more technical. I suppose if you use a 3421 or can train these tricky guys to play the wing like a Yamine but Yamal has pace and strength despite his size and age.

I don’t think the number 10 is an extinct position. But you do need to be flexible.

We’ve been hearing for years how talented Pafundi is. He needs to bust his ass this year.

for sure you just need to work really hard. Fazzini seems like he can do it. It helps to be have De Bruyne Bellingham Palmer Musiala type size as a modern 10 but it can be done by a smaller player it's just a stigma against you.

Huge news out of the Premier League. Marc Guehi’s deal to Liverpool collapsed at the last minute. This almost guarantees Leoni more playing time

The transfer market is pretty much wrapped up. By far the biggest disappointment is that Salvatore Esposito is still at Spezia. Despite all the praise he gets from the scouts and the pundits, not one team in Italy came for him. He just released a message on his instagram saying “I never had doubts”. Meaning he wanted to stay at Spezia (Sure). I could have easily seen him in Bologna who were looking for a regista but didn’t end up buying anyone. Who knows, maybe in January.

I still think Chiesa made a mistake by not pushing for an exit. I respect his desire to stay and prove himself, but he’s only going to be as good as a supporting player.

Cremenese pussied out and stockpiled on foreigns the last day. You cheer for teams like this to return to Serie A and after a season they turn into a Lecce or Verona

What an absolute shit show the last day of the transfer market was. The only saving grace is our young talent being attracted to some of the bigger clubs in Europe.

Bummed about Ambrosini and Baldanzi. Crazy to me that there aren't teams out there who want to take them on.

Napoli had offers. But for whatever reason they decided not to loan him out. When he came off the bench Saturday I thought he looked good. For me, he's the logical replacement, at least long term, for Raspadori
