Does anyone know the story on Mike Tranchilla? Why was he cut is he still hanging around as a practice player etc? I watched him play for years here at Creighton and always admired his ball handling and 1 v 1 scoring skills but it looks like he did not have it with make the Burn? any insight would be appreciated thanks!!
Tranchilla was waived about a month ago. If no one else in MLS picks him up (which is not likely) he would stay on the Burn's College Protected Roster (which means they could bring him back for another look some time) But I would not hold my breath for that. Mike is a good "goal poacher" but just doesn't have enough game everywhere else on the field for MLS. at least not right now anyway. He was outperformed consistantly by Andy Rosenband in practice. Maybe a strong stint in the A-league would show MLS teams something.
This raises an interesting question. Since Mariscalco had been considered as the pick of these three until his achilles injury, and given that the Burn have now settled on Salyer for their final developmental roster position, are the Burn still planning on bringing Mariscalco back in? If so, where would they put him since the roster is filled, and then some.
It is my understanding they will bring him back in for another 'trial' By then things may have changed, the burn are still activly looking for a forward. Will there be other moves to go along with that? who knows... I think we will have to wait and see.
Thanks for the info on Tranchilla. He was almost exclusively used as a goal poacher by Creighton and rarely came back on other parts of the field. Maybe a little A-league time would help him devlop a little further, he is a great talent so I hope his game rounds out so he get a chance.
