I wanted to share an ubelievable resource of training materials geared specifically for soccer referees. This site is loaded with valuable information. It is part of the PSRA site. You can certainly explore the entire site, but I have included some specific links wihtin the site that lead you to more information than you could ever need to train in an effective manner: General site: http://www.refereeassociation.net If you then go in to the Downloads button at the top, you will find a treasure trove of documents and links: http://www.refereeassociation.net/training.php Below are links within the downloads section that I think are great. The last one is a collection of how to videos so you can improve techniques and learn effective stretching. You can find training programs: http://www.refereeassociation.net/userdocs/RFP_1MonthFitnessTestPrep.pdf http://www.refereeassociation.net/userdocs/RFP_Jan-Mar2011.pdf Nutrition info: http://www.refereeassociation.net/userdocs/RFP_Jan-Mar2011.pdf 100 different workouts to use: http://www.refereeassociation.net/userdocs/RefereesExercisesList.pdf But my favorite on this is a list of youtube videos that show examples of everything from sprint techniques to dynamic stretching (which are recommended over the old static stretching concept: http://www.refereeassociation.net/userdocs/FitnessDrillReferenceList_2010.pdf Other links include strength training and exercises that are good for referees. I encourage everyone to look at this series of documents. I cannot imagine a better collection of fitness materials specifically for referees.
Thanks! Always looking for things like this to keep motivated. Plus the more variety, the easier it is to con fellow referees into working out together, which is always a lot more fun. ;-)
