Trade talks are rumbling throughout the league as teams near the cap limit deadline. Under league rules, teams must be cap-compliant by Jan. 3. Here are some of the tidbits I've got. A multi-player deal being negotiated that will send Jaime Moreno from DC to the Metrostars in return for Eddie Pope is stalled due to Pope's distaste for being traded. DC is currently over the cap limit and must do something to get under. Chicago is also over the cap as well and may be willing to drop Hristo Stoitchkov, whose contract has expired, and trade one of its remaining max-salary players: Josh Wolff, Ante Razov or Peter Nowak. Fire general manager Peter Wilt has been quoted as saying, "We expect Peter will be with us next year, but we have had discussions with a lot of teams regarding several players." Chicago's cap plight means that a trade of Josh Wolfe to the Wizards is still not out of the question.
Oh yeah. Landon Donovan and Brian McBride inked new deals with the MLS that will definitely keep Donovan and probably keep McBride stateside for the next season or two.
