Heathen. Along with United, as Jim points out, I bet Colorado and San Jose are two teams that would be interested in either of those players. What would we want from them though?
The only thing we really need is a clone or a reasonable fascimilie of Peter Nowak. Preferably one who does not cost much. That's the only kind of player who would even tempt tme to a trade.
If everyone stays healthy in the back, I would say that Jim, Evan, CJ, or Perez will be traded. Outside of Donovan, the Earthquakes don't have anyone to trade us with Cannon, Graziani, and Barrett leaving and DeRosario hurt for the season. I don't know about what DC or Colorado has to offer. I would not be surprised if the Fire trade away one of those players for more cap space if the perfect Senior International comes along. But only if the Fire are in the hunt and the backline stays healthy through the season. Those are obviously big ifs.
I'd probably hang on to them until the European transfer window opens up. It's still possible that somebody across the pond will make a bid for Bocanegra. Plus, we may want to hold our cards until we actually need the money for a SI signing. Which we don't have roster space for at the moment, anyway. Later, COZ
Yeah, but with a few exceptions, he doesn't line up in the defense. I was just talking about giving up a defender this early. Later, COZ
Re: Re: trade a defender for... it's the all new 2003 dema. it could be like the blues brothers...'we're putting the band back together'
Re: Re: Re: trade a defender for... If he stays put in DC, I hope he's like Blues Brothers 2000 then.
I didn't think about the transfer window scenario. But the Fire are in a nice situation with defensive personnel and if anyone gets moved, the Fire should be able to benefit.
