I'm also suggesting this on the DC board to get their take:

    To Columbus:
Dema Kovalenko: I hate the guy, but he scores goals, and works his butt off. Replace Martino with this guy, and in one move, you've completely transformed the entire team, and for the better.

Ronald Cerritos: Should be self-explanatory for a team that's so thin up front.

    To DC:
Matt Jordan: I never liked seeing a team with two starter-quality keepers, especially when another team is playing musical chairs with that position.

Kyle Martino: I think he could benefit greatly from a coach like Nowak, and a meaner environment like DC. I really like this kid, and I'd really like to see his development get back on track, and I think DC is the right place for him to do it.

I think this would be a fair trade, and would benefit both teams. Let me know what you think.

I'd keep these two over those two in any combination.

A trade with DCU? Denton for Convey is all I would do. Other than that, I don't want any of them.

Denton easily makes the worst MLS 11.

We've already had Denton once, which was more than enough, thank you.

That said, I'm not sure this trade helps DC much either. Jordan wouldn't be a huge upgrade in goal (although I'll admit that a one-armed drunk Mark Dougherty would have been an improvement over Rimando on Wednesday), and I don't think Martino is Nowak's type of player.

And even though Dema is a decent player (and then you all can deal with the hysterical Dallas trolls) how badly does Columbus need an overpaid underperforming striker? Would you all even have the cap room to pull this trade off?

Dema is a worthless sack of $hit and I never want to see him in black and gold. I could never bring myself to support him.

Kovalenko can go to hell. Actually, he's there already. Why would we want such a scumbag here?

I hate when people talk about trade suggestions. It's not like this will actually happen. The team GM's and Coaches aren't reading these boards looking for ideas. And to top it off DC fans are thick a sh!t.

    There is no point.

This ranks up there with the dumbest trade suggestions of all time. Neither of those players are welcome in Columbus. If Dema ever played for the Crew, I would have a hard time supporting the team during his time here. Cerritos offers nothing. Where is this impression that we're so thin up top? Give our guys some time to heal and get our midfield organized and we're going to be a fcuking juggernaut, asshat.

Buddle, Cunningham are both top class. Scott, Ritch, and Testo are top class subs. I have no qualms with our strike-core. Most idiots out there feal because McBride went to England that we're suddenly as impotent as Ray Hudson after losing his bottle of viagra. Quite simply, they're just idiots that know nothing about our team and they should just shut the fcuk up.

    Preach it, brother.

The Crew's scoring deficiencies have very little to do with the quality of our forwards. If it's your contention that Cerritos can score goals when getting service around the halfway and/or going one-on-four at the top of the box, then you need to lay off the crack for a bit.

Either way, can someone clarify the FIFA Transfer rules in these cases?

United States - USL Transfer Windows
    - January 1 until March 31 (the "primary window")
    - July 5 until August 5 (the "secondary window")

    Canada - USL Transfer Windows
    - Feburary 1 until April 30 (the "primary window")
    - June 1 until July 31 (the "secondary window")

United States - MLS Transfer Windows
    - January 1 until March 31 (the "primary window")
    - August 15 until September 15 (the "secondary window")

It's my understanding that FIFA will not register any transfers of under-contract players that occurs outside of these windows. This includes, does it not, intra-league as well as inter-league transactions.

If I have this wrong (and I may) then fine, but my understanding is that there is no help available via trade until mid-August.

Because all MLS players have contracts with MLS and not the teams, intra-MLS trading is allowed. It's kind of like working for a big company and getting transfered from one office location to another. You're not changing employers, you're not signing a new contract, you're just relocating. My understanding, is that the only roster moves allowed outside of those two windows are signing new players that are currently unemployed (aka free transfers) and swapping amongst MLS teams. Even to get somebody from the A-league would require you to wait for the transfer window.

First, from a DCU perspective, the trade doesn't give DCU what it needs--a finisher. It would create the cap room to possibly acquire one thought.

Second, from a Columbus perspective, I don't think y'all have the cap room to add those two players. Between the two of them Kovalenko and Cerritos would total around $280K-$300K. You'd be giving up two players who combined makes half that amount I'd bet (though it depends upon what Jordan signed for).

Third, Bill--my understanding is that the FIFA "windows" do not prohibit or restrict intra-league transfers. We don't read about them very often b/c overseas it's almost all sales and loans--not trades. But in theory, teams in England could swap players if they so desired. Also, it's my understanding that the windows only apply to licensed players under contract. So a player who is not under contract can be signed at any time. For instance, didn't NE just add Avery Johns?

True enough, but then, what's the point of talking about anything here, really? Why are you all still posting "Fire Andrulis" threads?

I'll ignore the compensatory big talk, but I think you pretty much sum up what I mean by "thin up top" when you plead for some "time to heal". A team with depth, by contrast, has a capable replacement lined up in case of injury. Take SJ, for example: Ekelund is out, so they move LD to midfield and start DeRosario. If you had someone like DeRosario to start for the injured Buddle, then you wouldn't be "thin up top". Instead, you have Testo. Do you understand now?

As for the rest of you, you have made your point. While I won't presume that your forum is the anus of Bigsoccer, I'll keep in mind that your forum bears a disturbing resemblance to a certain scene from "Deliverance".

I hope your next coach is as bad as Mike Jeffries.

    PSSST: Hey, Mr Soccer:

Yallop has called DeRosario up for a Canada match on the 30th. He won't be in Columbus.

    You are an ignoramus.

But thanks for playing our game. We've got some lovely parting gifts.
