I'm also suggesting this on the Columbus board to get their take:

    To DC:
Matt Jordan: unless he's severely regressed in Denmark (I think that's where he went after he left Dallas), he'll solidify that questionable GK position, which can only improve your defense's confidence. And IIRC, he knows better than any of your current guys how to rip his defenders a new one when they let him down. Again, this can only help.

Kyle Martino: if Convey goes on to Europe after he recovers, you'll need a new playmaker. Martino'll probably perform better in Nowak's system than he does in Andrulis'.

    To Columbus:
Dema Kovalenko: maybe he'll fit in better in Andrulis' system than Martino does. Surely likely to contribute more goals. And would be nice if one of Columbus' players actually resembled their tagline, "the hardest working team in America".

Ronald Cerritos: Should be self-explanatory for a team that's so thin up front.

I think this would be a fair trade, and would benefit both teams. Let me know what you think.

First of all, Columbus would be brain dead to make that deal..

Cerritos and Kovalenko both make upwards of around $150k a year.. I dare say the combo of Martino and Jordan probably don't reach $100k combined..

Ideally this trade would work both ways but for now Convey isn't going anywhere.. Martino is ridiculously overrated.. Very skilled mind you, but soft as butter out on the field..

Matt Jordan would certainly help our current goalkeeping crisis, but if we could just get back the Nicky from most of last season, most United fans would be satisfied with that..

I don't think the trade is a great one from DCU's perspective primarily b/c it doesn't solve United's primary problem--that of a finisher. It might open up the possibility to acquire a finisher. Here's why:
--we acquire Jordan we'd dump a GK. If Rimando was playing really badly (so Perkins and/or Warren was ahead of him), that (with moving the Cerritos/Dema salaries) would free up near maximum cap space. More likely it would mean cutting Warren or Perkins.
--we have too many forwards anyway and if we add a finisher we'll have to move (either trade or cut) at least 2 forwards once everyone is healthy.

I don't know if Jordan is much of an upgrade for us. Clearly Rimando can play better. I think Warren can be better. Both may be slumping but would Jordan be an upgrade? At this point I can't say.

Martino--I think has an upside and talent. But I don't think he'd fit well into Nowak's system--he's too soft. Nowak wants someone who can play both ways (even at A-mid) and run a lot--work hard.

I don't know if Columbus has the cap room to absorb so much new cap salary. But if they did, Cerritos might be attractive to them. And Dema would add an energy and effort that the team usually lacks. But Lord that would be one ugly, disjointed attack with Cunningham and Kovalenko as 2 of your front 3. But Columbus would be a better team.

Columbus should throw in Edson Buddle too.

Oh, sure trade Martino just as he starting to play up to his potential.

Hey, is this an Arndrulis idea? Are you Andrulis? Come on, fess up

If you can talk Mike Clark out of retirement then maybe we'll talk.

Geez... that's how damn bad its gotten. I'm trying to bring defenders out of retirement for DC cause there isn't anything any better.

I don't like the Martino idea. I've heard from reliable sources that "Kyle Martino is the pu**y of the year, the pu**y of the year, the pu**y of the year...."

We don't want a guy like that on the team. ;)

Cerritos/Dema/Stokes for Buddle and Nelson Akawari. We need a defender, Akawari is young but he's already years ahead of Stokes.

These trade threads are getting more and more insane by the minute.

If [R] wasn't already taken for result in a thread title, I'd suggest that we put that in these for ridiculous.

I forgot they had Akwari. A couple of years ago he was suppose to turn into the rock of the the USMNT. Along with Onyewu we were to be set at the back for the next decade. I like Akwari and he would definitely be an upgrade to Stokes. I doubt the Crew would get rid of Buddle.

Akwari would do us no good.

He's an outside back. And a marginal outside back in MLS at that.

So if we play a 3-5-2, why trade a center back (Stokes) for a wing back (Akwari) that doesn't fit our system.

    Pointless.

If this is the catch-all thread for mindless trade speculation, would anyone be tempted by a Gbandi for Quaranta deal? Seems like both could use a change of scenery, with Gbandi giving another outside back/mid possibility for DC and Quaranta helping Dallas' inconsistent offense. Of course, both players would have to prove that they are not hurt and total ass. Which is why they may have about equal value.

just to inform...akwari has been playing inside more than outside.

his speed isn't good enough to be put outside in a 3-5-2.

the one game he's played this year he replaced fraser in the center of 3-5-2.

And Stokes has played in the center how many times? None, so what's your point?

Since, as someone else said, this seems to be the mindless rumors thread, which forwards should we waive to get either a more quality forward or mid?

I should have pointed out, even if Convey doesn't go anywhere, at worst you'll have two playmakers, which seems to be in vogue now, looking at the Metros and LA. Fair concern regarding Martino. Personally, I think he might react well to a harsher, more disciplined environment like Nowak's DC. Andrulis, the Hunt family, and possibly even Columbus itself seem a bit too accommodating. Maybe Martino just needs a more persistent push.
I think Jordan is more consistent. Less flamboyant than Rimando. I may have missed a lot of DC's late games last year, because I never saw a particularly impressive performance from Warren, and I was surprised during preseason that he was expected to replace Rimando from the start. I thought maybe Nowak just didn't have confidence in a small, flamboyant keeper like Rimando. That's why I was thinking Jordan might be what he's looking for.
He has one good game, so now he has a free pass for the next 10? Sounds like the stay of execution Andrulis got a week ago. Are you Clark Hunt? Come on, fess up! :p
You really ought to check out the sister thread on the Columbus board if you want some pointers on how to insult people for no reason. Yours is playful, by comparison. You haven't made me think less of DC fans at all. Is Adu's maturity rubbing off on all of you? :)

No reason? How about this one? You're trade idea sucks. Hey, you asked. And I still think the idea of trading Dema for just about anyone is insane.

Considering that we tried trading away Kovalenko in the preseason, the trade suggested would not shock me. I don't think that Nowak feels any player is untouchable, in regards to either playing time or in staying with the team. Kovalenko may be a great asset, but he is certainly tradebait. The only question would be if there would be any takers on the second go around.
