all 11 stacked up, with layers of players head to toe, until the goal mouth is completely covered. If we tie the rest of the games 0-0 we should make the playoffs.
“San Jose Earthquakes Acquire Up to $1 Million in General Allocation Money from FC Dallas for Goalkeeper Daniel” (SJEarthquakes.com - Thursday, 7/9/26) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
OK, damn, it's GAM and not someone like Logan Farrington. So we are hoarding a lot of GAM. Up to around $6M now? Then it would make sense that our next acquisitions are from MLS. GAM doesn't do us any good for intl transactions, though we could use it to trade for an intl slot. Edit: it's only $300k GAM this year and $400k next year, and *maybe* another $300k if he performance criteria are met. That's pretty crappy. I think we paid $150k or $200k GAM for Earl Edwards. :facepalm
I wonder if performance criteria are just starts or minutes? I don’t thing risking $300k GAM on fancy stats is logical.
Just read a rumor on reddit that we've submitted a bid for the Argentine striker David Romero. He doesn't look fast but may be positionally aware and a good header. Really doesn't seem much better than Judd to me.
Remember that GAM is not "cash" nor is it really even "monopoly money". It isn't money at all. It's a license to spend money over the cap. That $300k GAM is money that comes out of Fish's pocket if he chooses to use it. The only value of GAM is that it doesn't count against the cap, so it let's you spend beyond the cap. We already have $5M of GAM to spend so I don't know what value another $300K GAM gives us. Essentially we're giving away Daniel for next to nothing.
It does you no good if you don't use the license to spend that money. As I said, we have $5M in unused GAM already. It might be more useful to the next owner, if we ever get one, if he wants to spend at a higher level over the cap.
This rumor came up 6 weeks or so ago which could mean there’s persistent interest or it could be nonsense dredged up by Romero’s agent. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/s...es-roster-thread.2137221/page-6#post-43698116
So Bogert shared a tidbit: we were apparently trying to sign Gunn in the winter (last offseason) but the deal fell apart, so we just went back for him when he became available on a free. He surmised that the bridge had been lightly burned between the Quakes and Daniel since then.
Yes and that’s what makes this a baffling move. Even if Bruce wasn’t happy with Daniel’s performance last year, wouldn’t he reconsider his opinion after Daniel played lights out for us this year? GK is one of our least needs unless we’re talking about improving depth, but that’s not what this is.
Humphrey Bogert says we re-signed 3 other players besides Judd to long-term contracts. All good choices.
We may get our very own Luka ___ic. As I posted earlier in another thread, Adimabua seems AWOL recently, and I thought it might be because we have a forward on the way.
