The Ayo joke is almost distasteful now, because he was dealing with personal life issues and depression that contributed to his poor play and out of shape body. All beyond his own control.
The Quakes made zero moves in the summer transfer window and their season has been over since March 19... meanwhile the LA Galaxy are in first place with everything left to play for and yet are already being connected to players for next season (guessing this would be a Gabriel Pec replacement after he is sold for an exorbitant amount)... LA GALAXY INTERESTED IN EXEQUIEL ZEBALLOS FOR THE 2025 MLS SEASON. The five-time champions of MLS LA Galaxy are interested in the current player of Boca Juniors Exequiel Zeballos. Why Pogba when you could just trade for Carlos Gruezo instead? 🚨 LAFC have shown interest in French Midfielder Paul Pogba according to @NicoSchira Do you see the World Cup winner joining his fellow NT teammates in LA? pic.twitter.com/91uJBpwCD2— MLS Moves (@MLSMoves) October 13, 2024
Pogba had discipline issues, has hardly played over the last two years due to injury, and is suspended from play until March 2025 for doping. Can I pass on both please?
MLS in discussions to potentially add cash trade market: Sources The committees that shape the future of Major League Soccer roster rules have had serious discussions about adding a cash-based internal trade market and could vote on it this week when the MLS Board of Governors meets in New York, sources tell GIVEMESPORT. The internal trade market would allow MLS clubs to make trade offers with real cash rather than allocation money, much like the rest of global soccer, sources say. Those sources add this would not replace allocation money, but offer another avenue. For instance, teams could still do allocation money trades if it's approved. Sources are optimistic this idea could be voted on and come to fruition this week, but nothing is guaranteed. An internal cash trade or transfer market has long been discussed by various committees and has come close in previous years, with many sources around the league having expected it to be implemented. For new salary cap/roster rules to be implemented in MLS, it has to be voted on by the sporting and competition committee (previously known as the product strategy committee). Before it gets there, it has to be recommended by the sporting committee.
Thanks for posting. Sorry, my brain is hurting after a long day. I'm trying to understand the benefit. Is that allocation money is limited where as cash can be put in more on a deal than allocation dollars?
Ok, I was trying to be nice. I did think that this will only benefit select teams who take advantage of it...
I figure, like everyone else, it's a way for the rich to get richer - i.e. the teams with big $$ to not be as constrained by communistic mechanisms like TAM, GAM, and SPAM... Of course, this means that Fisher will finally be free to spend that couch-cushion cash rather than having to wait for CL to go chase after that elusive TAM...
jesus must the comments be a cesspool... it's something people have been clamoring for for a few years now because player movement between teams within MLS is so difficult with all the allocation money related rules, which is why you'll see someone like Chicho Arango go from LAFC to Mexico to RSL... Right now when you have rules in place like teams can only convert up to X amount of any transfer revenue into allocation money, it creates all sorts of perverse incentives that are usually unintended and possibly undesirable consequences... at least in specific situations where the math pans out a certain way. It's no different than if a country passes a law where a company with over 5k employees can't fire their workers, you're going to see a huge cluster of companies with just under 5k employees... getting rid of the law may seem like some plot by fat cat execs so they can fire workers easier but the reality on the ground will be more companies with over 5k workers and thus more jobs. And also, all this would do is bring MLS a bit more in line with... PRETTY MUCH EVERY OTHER SPORTS (not just soccer) LEAGUE ON THE PLANET but of course that must mean there's some secret cabal pulling the levers to make it happen because everything is a conspiracy theory now and people love to complain about things they don't understand. "Everything looks suspicious when you don’t know how anything works"
I think most of us base our suspicions regarding MLS moves on its past history of constantly changing the game to suit its richest teams.
I want a few guys on this list. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/2024-mls-free-agency-eligible-player-list
I doubt anyone signs him regardless, but weird to see TT on the "defenders" list. Matias may have resurrected his career for a bit as a RB, but also that was a kind of kiss of death. I guess the Carlos Vela 2.0 era at LAFC was kind of a dud. He played a total of 4 minutes.
