Does Leitch know that the summer transfer window is open 🚨🇺🇸 EXCL: Marco Reus to LA Galaxy, here we go! Deal finally done after initial agreement revealed in July.Contract until December 2025 plus option to extend, as expected.Reus, planning for travel to US in the next days for medical tests and contract signing.Done, sealed 🇩🇪 pic.twitter.com/pLHuR7zrPx— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 7, 2024
Big move for the scum BUT he's 35 and has quite the injury history... if he stays healthy he can do some damage for sure but this also a risk by them to use up a DP slot.
Marco Reus will not take up a DP slot, he will be making the max TAM salary. LA Galaxy's three DPs are Riqui Puig, Gabriel Pec, and Joseph Paintsil. So Marco Reus joins Dejan Joveljić and Diego Fagundez as non-DP attackers for them... probably a better trio than any three attackers the Quakes have whether DPs or not.
Offer Vela $200k for half a season Carlos Vela hasn’t announced retirement, but hasn’t played since Dec.- Sources: He’d prefer to remain in LA if he plays- Nothing ongoing w/ LAFC- LA Galaxy never made offer- No active interest from San DiegoOn a legend who hasn’t gotten his farewellhttps://t.co/WkL7PGOW6u— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) August 7, 2024
We should looking to sign a U22 forward who could hopefully help us for some number of years, not wasting time trying to get Carlos Vela out of his pool.
Or maybe Vela can travel up north, live in Carmel and sign with Monterey Bay FC? They can pay him the same $40k contract they gave Simon Dawkins?
I think this is pretty messed up if he's not getting the start next game. Argument can be made for both sides though, but I think Micovic should playout the rest of the tournament. John McCarthy is really good though too. Toss up. A team will be lucky to have him. Sources: LA Galaxy goalkeeper Novak Micovic has requested a transfer.Micovic starred in Galaxy's two Leagues Cup games, but told he's not planned to start next game. Micovic has just 8 apps for LAG since joining last year.Galaxy insist Micovic is firmly in long-term plans. pic.twitter.com/K9vNgV1Cvh— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) August 7, 2024
We typically don't announce anything until the end of the window anyway... plus we just beat LigaMX club; what could we possibly need?
It’s possible we do something. But also possible we do nothing because 1) We may have little left under the cap and in the budget. 2) Next year will be a new coach (unless Ian but we don’t know that) and CL may want to let the new coach have a say in acquisitions to fit style of play, etc. 3) Sure you could sign someone for a few years beyond this year but the remainder of this season is dead space because outside of Leagues Cup (which will probably end for us tomorrow), there is nothing to play for.
Have the Quakes announced season ticket renewals, and I just missed it? Because if they haven’t (and they would be very dilatory based on immediately prior years), maybe they wanna sign somebody to generate interest?
