Revs fans are rev-olting because their team traded away DeJuan Jones, meanwhile their front office is bringing in a $7 million winger from Argentina as a U-22 signing Sources: New England Revolution complete deal to sign Argentine winger Luca Langoni.Fee around $7m. Hits roster via U-22 Initiative, making him one of most expensive U-22 Initiative signings in MLS.Big investment, exciting talent pic.twitter.com/BazmkQxA7V— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) August 2, 2024 Luca Langoni is now the club-record signing for the New England Revolution. https://t.co/PtQR0XteEW— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) August 2, 2024
If only we could bring an Argentinean player...oh wait... Apparently, if you are last place in the conference, you look to Argentine.
New England are about to trade for one of the best CB's in MLS. BREAKING: The New England Revolution are nearing a deal to acquire center back Tim Parker in a trade which sends Henry Kessler to St. Louis, sources say.Further details includes New England also getting allocation money. Final details still coming. pic.twitter.com/xaBlwWKdBp— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) August 2, 2024
Interesting. Parker is really good and not even that old (31) and not even that expensive (~$1M). Kessler's salary is about the same. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think St. Louis is looking to build for the next 3 seasons, and Revolution are looking to add veterans to there already youngish team. If the Revolution didn't have 70% of there starting unit on IR most of the season, they'd be 1 2 or 3 with Miami and Cinci.
I know, let's trade Ebobisse, Judd, Thompson, Pelligrino and Gruezo for a case of beer, if we can get that much.
Not that I expect much either way, but I think for US clubs, it's: days until summer transfer window closes...
Quakes are content with letting the clock run out on our 50th anniversary season of shame. What’s baffling is how they expect to sell a single season ticket for 2025 after so many consecutive losing seasons culminating in quite literally the worst season by any team in MLS history, this year. Who’s going to keep forking their money over to Fisher? Anyone? Must be the toughest job in MLS trying to sell Quakes season tickets for 2025.
But how big is the "I'm buying season tickets no matter what!" cohort? If it represents 1000 seats, I'd be surprised.
We’ve had “no matter what” for nearly the entire last 12 years, so I’m not sure that there’s anything new here.
I’d be surprised too and I imagine a sizeable portion of those are in the relatively less expensive supporters sections. I do hope the “no matter what” cohort gets rewarded with a playoff game at PPP park one day.
Probably not many new STH’s, I expect those numbers are dwindling. Quakes are a tough sell. Fisher seems 100% determined not to be competitive in San Jose.
Our payroll is probably around 20th and exactly all of the teams below us do better. There’s enough money to be competitive. The fact that we aren’t right now doesn’t mean that we can never be, and arguably we were competitive even last year.
It takes more than money, as you know. And given where this team is now, it’s going to take a massive effort to get things turned around. Are you sensing any energy for that coming from Quakes FO? I’m not hearing anything.
