if this turns out to be true, it would be the Quakes biggest move of the entire fish-era (going all the way back to 2008!), based on TF alone. here's hoping we have our first big time DP.
so he scored 3 goals for FC Dallas, in 3 years, over 98 games (2016-2019). can we assume he's a FoL (both were with Dallas at the same time)? and can we also assume that he would play essentially the same role as our other DP, Monteiro (more of a holding/attacking midfielder)?
Step 1 - get excited about the transaction because “$3 mil transfer!”, and we love big $ transfers! Step 2 - actually try to learn something about the player. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
we haven't seen any big money transfers in San Jose so of course that would actually be exciting news.
So, we’ve gone from FoM’s to Follies or this time it makes more sense to have the new coach pick players from his former team?
One good thing about a FOL vs. a FOM is that the FOL would have played in MLS (or USMNT) so we know how he’d likely do in MLS. We paid nearly a mil for FOMs like Fierro and Rios, only to find out they were not needle-movers in MLS.
Too soon to know. But it looks like it comes straight out of the Quakes unimaginative playbook - I have no idea how good this player is tbh, hopefully our first big FoL is a game changer.
But you loved Rios.. you thought he was a good / above average MLS player. The way you defended that vato you'd think he was a needle-mover and a good player for us.
LAFC pick up a couple of good USL guys for depth. With Crépeau out probably all season recoving from the horrific leg injury sustained in the MLS Cup. They've already upgraded keeper with Jakupovic from Everton who'll likely start, John McCarthy will serve as back up and Romero as the 3rd string. Do hope Crépeau has a full recovery he's instrumental to the future of Canada's goalkeeper position. He's next in line behind Bojan, but not sure now Pantemis is moving up the depth chart now with the injury to Crépeau. Hasal isn't far behind. But Montreal probably has 3 keepers on their roster who could be called into Canada at any time along with Pantemis. Breza and Sioris are both good young Canadian keepers. I for one am very happy we have Daniel, Marcinkowski and Ochoa. I find our keeper platoon about as good as LAFC, Montreal, New England and Sporting KC now. KC is going to be interesting with McIntosh, Pulskamp and Melia all three are capable starters. https://www.lafc.com/news/lafc-signs-midfielder-daniel-crisostomo-goalkeeper-abraham-romero
Philly continues to grow, they are dipping into the league trade market to acquire depth and solid pieces to their puzzle. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/philadelphia-union-mine-mls-trade-market-for-big-2023-plans
