Come on DvA, a kid that has 37 caps for the youth NTs an has sent many times Valdir to the subs bench isn't that bad either. What he does not have is all the hype and media attention the the sportive press usually gives to SCP's kids.

Also, he played in the Toulon tournament 2 years ago (wich we won, if I'm not mistaken) and the Eurosport commentators tipped Vítor as one to look out for.

I've seen him play a few times and I like his skills. He is solid defending and has some sting in attack.

Sadly in FC Porto he wasn't given many chances. Mourinho has a "thing" with tall lateral defenders and he always called the Brazilian Evaldo (now at Marítimo) to train with the A team.

I was only bringing some attention how fast a Youth international can go down, if you check the thread Penafiel vs Academica you see another three players the were top Youth international's like Joao Paulo, Vaisca still at 23 trying to make it to a top team

i saw some games of V.Rodrigues and he's not near of Valdir's talent and potential, and in last u21 match he was very bad, Portugal missed Valdir

    time will tell...

Anyway, I don't think he was that poor...but keep in mind that game was his debut for the U-21...specially coming from nowhere (tourizense)!

Nice to see that, at least, he has taken Daniel's spot as the 2nd left-back of the U-21s
