don't know if I should laugh or cry...

(or if I should post this in the international thread...)

    drive by post... :)

I found this article and while I found it funny, at the same time I found it sad. Maybe women's soccer hasn't come as far as we think it has...

    sigh...

Jeez, must be quite a gulf in quality between the starting keeper and the backup, or there is more to that story than is told in that article.

I posted about this in the fan forum (not sure why! LOL!). I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. It's pretty sad that not having the regular keeper would allow them to lose that badly.

Has women's soccer really not come that far???

    sigh...

"A third-division provincial girls' football team entered the annals of Belgian soccer on Saturday after suffering a crushing 50-1 defeat because of the absence of a single but crucial player: their music-loving goalkeeper."

The title should be something like:

"Tough loss for back-up keeper, rest of the team quits on her!"

No doubt...if I was the backup keeper, I'd be hella pissed at the rest of the team!

Check out the story at their website: http://www.sk-berlaar.be/

Sounds like a case of a  very low-level amateur team taking on Godzilla

This was a match in a Regional Cup where teams may play against opponents from a much higher competitive level.

Still not as bad as the whipping the Australian men gave some Pacific island minnow. :rolleyes"
