    0-1 Remy

Was coming, playing the high line with slow Friedel and a fast striker like Remy is suicidal.

Micheal has to be off half. His pace is a liability. Great now Vlad off with a bad bloody nose. No creative movement what so ever. Soldado looks good, but we look stale

A few half chances all saved by Krul.

Need to up the tempo in the 2nd half, still playing with no urgency despite being a goal down.

Last season, we used to start with a high tempo but tired out in the 2nd half. This season, it's always slow tempo no matter what situation we are in. Awful.

Worst 1st half of the season, although there are a few contenders. No tempo in attack as usual and without Lloris to play sweeper the high defensive line means Newcastle look like scoring every time.

Townsend is too predictable on the right, always cutting in and shooting into a defender. Got to push him left to play more of a wing role and bring Lamela on for Sigurdsson to inject some more pace. If he plays like he did on Thursday, will help us enormously.

I didn't wake up in time to see Remy's goal. What happened?

Tottenham's attack is sterile. Other than Soldado's header which Tim Krul saved miraculously there were no other decent chances produced.

Townsend, Eriksen, and Sigurdsson need to combine better, their link up play has been awful.

Two subs - Kaboul on for Chiriches (due to injury seems) and Sandro on for Dembele (to cover defence).

Does only leave us one sub, and really need that to be Lamela.

Looking like this is 1 day of the season when the gk will stop everything at WHL.

Defoe coming on... no Lamela this game, unfortunately.

Lost momentum with the Defoe sub. Townsend so thoughtless and wasteful.

We can praise Krul but we simply are not good enough in the 1st half. If we have play like how we did in the 2nd half, we could have better results in other matches.

We can stop dreaming about Champions league because we may not even be in Europe next season. Man Utd and City win, we drop to 8th place.

We have been incredibly unlucky. It seems gk's this year have game's of the season against us. First it was the Palace keeper now it's this guy. Lot of chances, but he really had a stellar game. I can't stress enough how badly our pairing at the back has to be Vertonghan and Kaboul. Dawson is just too slow and had a horrid game and also it shows how great Lloris is as well. Brad looked really shaky at times. Really a big shame. We needed a point or three. We have none and the team now goes away for internationals. Not ideal. Tactics have got to be looked at as well as this cutting in just doesn't give us enough space to do much.

Such a shame given the relatively poor form of the the big 3 teams Spurs seem to match them rather than take advantage.

    opta stats

    from open play
    spurs chances created: 12
    Newcastle chances: 3

also shows spurs rely wayyyy too much on the right side in attack. siggy not touching the ball enough in the attacking third, IMO

Poor result. Home form has been unacceptably woeful this season, and AVB is running out of opportunities to sort it out.

Not involving Lamela after his midweek performance in this game was disappointing. Sigurdsson as starter and Defoe on as sub contributed next to nothing. Townsend on the right was totally predictable. Really need to bring in Lamela on the right and shift Townsend left, get some width and more pace into the attacking midfield.
