actually, i think he was injured, but i may be wrong, the coach def. didn't want him out of team for techinical reasons, if you search the argentine newspapers they cite the fact that independiente couldn't score as the fact that they were missing their creative motor, el totono...i'll try to find that article, it is widely circulated, he has become an integral part of the team.
this is the type of veteran we need.... every time he comes on the field its like our Nt gets a 2nd/3rd wind
The thing with Totono is that you never see him lacking effort, he is a true leader and is the perfect candidate to marshall the mid-field and give someone an earfull if they are not giving it their all. His performance in the last WCQ showed us exactly what he can do for the team.
totono would have been a legend for an english team. Too bad Aston Villa never paid attention to Juan Pablo Angel
grisales was proved at aston villa, but the manager considred that he was very samll to play there and totono came back very angry and said that astonvilla´s players were the worst players that he had seen.
The problem was crossed signals. Totono was over there on trial, just when Villa got the chance to sign Nol Solano for very little money. Since Nol was an established star in the Prem, they took the lower risk option and sent Freddy home. Freddy got angry...
Villa was a retarded team who thought any players from the UK was better than a foriegn one... big problem with ANgel the 1st 2 seasons... dont want to say they are racist cause angel is pretty euro looking but they def are very nationalist.... There only good season while Angel was there was their 3 amigo period with Angel, Solano and De La Cruz... think they sold Solano and benched De La Cruz and they went back to shit... and then thought that kid luke moore was better than Angel and went down hill haha Now they want Falcao but he shouldnt go there As for Grisales he is a 45 minute player because he gives 300% but this type of player doesnt work for Europe but he def better than Solano
Most of this is wrong. JPA was Villa's player of the season in 01-02, his first season there, which did not coincide with DLC and Solano. During that season, Villa were also top of the table a few months in and only collapsed after the midway point of the season. JPA was more a victim of a lack of prep from Villa (they didn't hire an HR person to focus on helping international players adapt to the UK until a couple of years later) than any nationalism or racism. He was (and is, btw) revered by most Villa fans, and was even more so when he first arrived in the UK. Remember that their fans literally held protests at Villa Park to push for JPA's acquisition. I think its hard to argue that Grisales is more or less of a player than Solano, but its easy to understand how Villa would make that move when choosing between a proven commodity, and a bright player with no european experience for around the same price.
