Fernando Torres does not believe that it is only his responsibility to fire Atletico Madrid back to winning ways.

The 19-year-old striker has been made the scapegoat for Atleti's recent drop in form by sections of the Spanish media after the team have failed to score in their last three outings.

But Torres feels that laying the blame solely at his feet is unfair.

Atletico have seen their tilt at a Champions League spot falter as the goal drought threatens to derail what has been a successful return to top flight football this season.

"Maybe some of the responsibility is mine," he explained. "But I do not believe that the team depends only on me to win games.

"There have been plenty of matches where I have not scored and we have still won.

"What we need is one win to start us off again. If we want to qualify for Europe then we have to start getting results or we will slip down.

"The coach, Luis Aragones, has not said anything, but we know that we are not going to win games unless we start scoring again.

"The team cannot fail again this weekend against Espanyol."
