The Rapids return home after the midweek debacle at SKC. Good news is that every time the Rapids have lost in a big way they respond with a solid performance. Toronto has played three consecutive MLS matches at home losing to Columbus on Wednesday 0-2. They currently sit in 8th in the East on 36 points. The Rapids are in 4th in the West on 47 points in a very tight table with only five point separating 2nd (FSL) from 7th (Houston). Given the fatigued posture of many of the starters in the SKC match, will we see more squad rotation than normal under Armas?

2-1 win, goals by Mihailović and Bassett (off the bench). Toronto is not a good team, we should be able to beat them but the rain and the number of games will make this a sloppy tense affair. https://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2024/09/second-chance-for-rapids-to-clinch.html
Shane O’Neill…., almost forgot about the Boulderite. Saved a goal. Earned a yellow. Typical. Stats are dominate for the Pids the 1st half. 10 shots. 5 on target. 78% possession. 295 total passes vs 119. Yet… not all that impressed. A lot of nothing if you ask me. I feel like that will change in the 2nd half. It has to. We need the points.
1-0 52nd minute nice little interchange between Mihailovoc and Yapi on the right hand side. Yapi feeds a perfect ball to a late arriving Cannon at the top of the box. Cannon hit a beautiful low, inside-the-foot shot and tucked it tightly into the left corner. Nice very finish. Been easy to hit that into Row Z.
With the assist on Cannon's goal Mihailovic has tied Diego Rubio's team record for goals + assists in a single season at 23.
Feels sooooooooo nice to secure that playoff birth. All my negativity coming into the season have been quickly erased. Man, how quickly things can change for the good. There’s seemingly been a plan and it’s been executed. Not the best the match from the boys but still the game never felt in doubt. Convincing when you’re not your best is a very good position to be in. Well done, boys.

Once again the Rapids followed an abysmal showing with a solid one. No long term loosing streaks this season. As @MVann stated, it was k and weren't turning the ball over as they did on Wednesday night in Kansas City. In this match they were patient in the build up and committed very few silly turnovers. Good to see that the coaching staff felt confident to start Seb Anderson and Reggie Cannon at outside back. This allowed Keegan and Jackson Travis to rest. And starting Yapi up top along with Bassett also allowed Calvin Harris, Omir Fernandez and Jonathan Lewis to get a break as well. Additionally, it was nice to see four homegrowns start (Seb Anderson, Oliver Larraz, Cole Bassett and Darren Yapi). Armas & Co., sure look sharp for selecting Cannon to start at LB. He was very calm on the well placed shot on the nice square pass from Yapi. He was solid in defense and confident on the ball. He's gonna make it hard for Vines and Travis to beat him out for time. Mihailovic is such a pleasure to watch. He often seems to hit a ball that puts a teammate into position to get a quality shot off. He is one of the best #10s in club history.
Yapster makes the Young Players of the Matchday list 👏Darren had the assist on Reggie Cannon’s goal and drew a penalty late. https://t.co/1g47MDI3MI— DNVR Rapids (@DNVR_Rapids) September 25, 2024
