against the then defending World Cup winners, in Paris, it wasn't a bad result....and given the 1000 year rivalry between England and France the term "friendly" isn't generally applied here (as it isn't when England plays Argentina or Germany)....of course anyone who knew anything about English football would know this....

Owen has scored against France the then World champs
A hat-trick against Germany who less than a year later were finalists of the WC
2 against Brazil, one in WC and one in a friendly
3 against Argentina, 2 in friendly and 1 WC
1 against Portugal in euro 04
and a hat-trick against Columbia last year but thats just for fun.

Owen scores in the big games and i have faith in him this summer.

Enlgands rivalry with France is nothing like that with Argentina or Germany. Stop coming up with utter BS! Thats the way it always is - when you beat Argentina - "oh yes friendlies matter so much", but when you lose to Denmakr you just dismiss it - "nah its only a friendly, they dont matter".

    Dwight Yorke.

I'm serious. I have no doubt that he'll score against Engalnd and will probably convert a penalty at some point as well.

Engalnds goals come form all over the pitch and Sweden will share the spoils between several players as well. Paraguay aren't exactly prolific.

The only other scenario is if England, or possibly Sweden, score a hatful against T&T, in which case Rooney, Owen or Zlatan could come out with 2 from that game alone. A goal in another game would see them with 3. But its unlikely.

Yorke is their go to guy and penalty taker. 2 goals will probably be enough to take top scorer in Group B.

As you can see from our group in 2002 no one scored more than 1 goal.

Yah, ok. I don't expect us to beat England by any stretch of the imagination, but we aren't a pushover - we routinely provide challenges for both the US and Mexico, two well respected (well, they should be anyway) footballing nations.

There will be no goals at all:eek:

This would lead to a situation where England goes through on that own-goal by paraguay, wich also meens that paraguay is out, and T&T and Sweden will have to fistfight their way to the next round, and I would be surprised if T&T didn´t win that fight. ;)

I think it will be someone unexpected like a defender of perhaps a midfielder. If a striker is to be top scorer I think Ibrohimovic is the most likely but I wouldn't write off Owen.

Crouch seems to be in the best position to take it. Zlatan is done, Owen on the bench and Sven won't ever admit that Lampard should move back for Gerrard to go up and attack more....
