Who do you consider the top youth prospects in the United State's Youth Programs?
What players in the 23u, 21u, 17u, club's academies, etc
What players do you see developing and making the national team in 2014?

Just a thread dedicated to top prospect talk!

I dont know where to post this but I just wanted to see if someone can clear things up for me. Is Mexico doing some recruiting in California and other states in the US for kids born after 1989?? I was watching the Mexico vs Uruguay game and I think that is what I heard.

Best prospects of the U23 and under.. I won't really go too much into the U17s since it is so hard to predict a that level but here you go

    Jozy Altidore U23
    Gale Agbossoumonde U20
    Sebastian Lletget U20
Michael Hoyos U20 (also considering Argentina)
    Luis Gil U18
    Juan Agudelo U20
    Tristian Bowen U20
    Eric Lichaj U23
    Mix Diskerud U23
    Jack McInerney U20
    Amobi Okugo U20
Danny Williams U23 (still has to get his US passport but is American)
    Samir Badr U20
    Michael Stephens U23

Agree, Hamid could be a world class keeper like Timmy.

Hamid turns 20 later this year so doesn't count as a U20 for this cycle.

How could anyone miss Adu U23, yeah I know his club situation sucks but he still among the best U23's we have.

You're right, my bad. I was going by years given in the 2008 YNT eligibility thread. Didn't check the date...

Charles Renken and Joseph Gyau. Both, I believe, are in the attacking mid/striker role and are U20s. Signed with Hoffenheim now.

Dewee, Gil, and Agboussomonde are the ones mentioned that I'm most excited for.

Also, he's not on any youth teams, but Charlie Davies is still 23. Should be in his prime for 2014

The original poster is new so he doesn't know who these guys are. You have to specify which clubs they are at to be somewhat relevant. I put them in bold

Dont forget the dual nationals who have played for other national teams

    Fabian Johnson (Vfl Wolfsburg) '87
    Alex Zahavi (Sporting Lisbon) '91

both could be possibilities as its unlikely they break into portugals or germanys squads.

While Omar Gonzalez and Eric Lichaj are both very promising and both currently under the age of 23, they aren't eligible for any US youth teams.

I have seen the ads on TV inviting players interested in attending a camp. They are usually associated with major clubs like Club America, Cruz Azul, etc. This is common in South America where Euro clubs do the same thing - trying to find the next Messi. Find them cheap, develop them and then sell them for big fees

Can anyone with more knowledge than me break down the defensive players into right and left sided? They seem to be big holes for us on the senior team (aside from Cherundolo and Boca playing out of position).

Major thanks and rep to anyone who can provide insight.

Not many left backs are top prospects.

Greg Garza at Sporting Lisbon has been converted into a LB. Tyler Polak is also a LB.

One of those two will be the starter for the US U20 team this cycle

At right back you have Eric Lichaj. Danny Williams at Freiburg played there a bit this season but he is naturally a central midfielder.
