That site has their top five strikers.

    TOP 5 Strikers
    1. Raúl
    2. Vieri
    3. Van Nistelrooy
    4. Ronaldo
    5. Makaay

    ---

I think you could argue the placements, but missing Henry seems like a mistake.

    1. Raul
    2. Henry
    3. van Nistelrooy
    4. Vieri
    5. Makaay

    So what do you think?

Raul has far more better technique than Vieri but Vieri is far more lethal and he rarely fails a match.

Vieri in real madrid or man utd would be devastating.

btw In real world they exchange their position due to their form in a given period.

    In ntl teams

    Ronaldo
    Vieri
    Van Nistelrooy
    Trezeguet
    Raul

    In clubs

    Vieri
    Van Nistelrooy
    Raul
    Trezeguet
    Ronaldo

Ronaldo is still the best though he has decided to play at his best only in the best occasions (WC, CL finals).

And last if Inzaghi is in the match defenders drove crazy.
He is the best in positioning and freeing himself from defenders' control.
Playing offside with him is playing russian roulette.
I guess it means he is the cleverest (ftball cleverness of course) striker.

Just he is not always in the match.

    In alphabetical order:

    Henry
    Raul
    Ronaldo
    VanNistelroy
    Vieri

    Ronaldo is the most spectacular.
VanNistelroy and Vieri are pure killers.
Raul is the most solid mentally, a team leader.
Henry has the best touch of ball.

Obvious I know but I'd put Michael Owen among the top 5 strikers in the world.

Although I'm sure the little fella is aware that he needs to increase his stepover/backheel ratio by about 30% if he is to be rated highly by the BigSoccer pundits.

Scoring loads and loads of goals just isn't enough

I'd take off Roy Makaay. He's a good player from what I've seen of him (which I'll admit isn't as much as I've seen of the others) but top 5 in the world? Not in my opinion.

Mobile, although I rate Owen highly, I'd rather have both Crespo and Trezeguet, to name a few, as my club's center forward - and neither can backheel to save their lives. Where did this 'stepover/backheel' thing you keep mentioning come from?

On current form the aforementioned list of suspects is about right.

The 'stepover' thing is just a reference to those teeth-grindingly annoying BS posters who rate a player on how flashy he is, how many tricks he does, without realising there is more to the game than skilllllzzzzzzz.

I know Owen isn't rated very highly at all by many on BigSoccer but IMO he is top-notch. And I also rate Trezeguet and Crespo extremely highly, just that I think the little guy is one of the best goalscorers in the whole world. And yes, I am very biased :)

I was thinking of this season only, of course Michael Owen is one of the top strikers over the past four years or so.

Raul's numbers are lower than I thought, but I still think he is a dangerman, just not top five right now.

    1) van Nistelrooy
    2) Henry
    3) Vieri
    4) Makkay
    5) Ronaldo

HEre we go again with the Henry thing. (It almost would seem like i hate the guy the amount of times i'm pointing out why he's not top 5)

Until Henry does it on the big stages he can't be put out there as a 'big stage striker' fullstop. ALL the others represent themselves admirably on any stage they grace. Until Henry does the same how or why even, should he be classed as a top 5 striker in the world?

It baffles me how people are putting him out there without him actually tearing it up on the hugest stages :( favoritism is all good but shouldn't it be justified???) Henry shows promise/potential to do 'it' in the future but to the present day he's been nowhere near as lethal as the others on the most elite stages (World Cups, European Cups, Champions League etc) all the others have a record that speaks for itself and constantly do & will rip it up come the business end of the season (tell me you'd back against Raul or Ronaldo OR Vieri scoring in Champion's League semi's and finals!! They're bonafide top tier no matter how you look at it - they've done it before and they'll do it again and again and again.)

It is however, fair to say Henry can't be faulted considering how much he's done in the short time he's been a striker - but to over-merit him is to belittle the achievements of the others!

A 70% fit -15lb overweight Ronaldo is scoring Hatricks in Champions League 1/4 finals. RVN returning back from a career threatening injury himself has scored nearly 80 goals in 2 seasons since! Vieri is always, always the 'go-to striker' for his country and is always a 20gl a season striker in serie A. Raul puts goals away in Cl finals and has been pichichi from his support striker role which is amazing in itself.

Of course Henry has done great things as well but nothing like what the others have done in the higher echelons of the game - maybe in time but not as of yet.

Anyways top strikers for me are.

    1. 70% fit, 15lb overweight Ronaldo lol
    2. Raul - even as a support striker he's a lethal, constant top scorer in La lgal
    3. RVN - This season he's shown how to break records.
    4. Vieri- He's been top 5 for 5 years running!
    5. Sheva - when fully fit he's lethal
    6. Makaay - If he played for a bigger team more people would acknowledge him more than they do.
    7. Inzaghi - no matter what you say about him he's always a threat and has ad a fantastic season.
    8. Crespo - can be inconsistent and moody but he's still quality.
    9. Trezeguet - One of the best in the air, Good instincts.
10 Henry - The more he does on the bigger stage the more he'll rise up this chart -but all the others have done more than him to the current date.
    11. Owen- Seems to have been found out a bit and he's been quite inconsistent. But write him off at your peril.
    12. Shearer - Still a problem and still scoring goals.
    13. Del Piero - Goes missing too often for his country and doesn;t seem to have ever properly recovered from his career threatening knee injury but still devestating on his day.

After this lot i think it gets too jumbled to call but i still think you have to gauge the players by what they have done and how they've done it if you're to give an unbiased list.

    that's an excellent list.

Henry at biggest stage hasn't been seen yet. I think 2004 will be his opportunity to shine.

My tips to shine in euro 2004 are:

    Rooney

    Henry

    Raul

    Vieri

I think by the time Euro 2004 rolls round Henry will be alot better than he currently is and will show more in big games. I go for Raul as top scorer with 6 goals. hehe :D
