true but we will have to wait and see til the world cup.

carvalho and andrade are solid defenders.carvalho can score goals to.

marquez is a solid defender but he isnt consistent.

defense is an easy position protect the ball and be the second goalie.

i rarely see players get around carvalho.

I say the top defender would either have to be Jorge Andrade or Ricardo Carvalho, they're good on the ball and also it helps if you can score once and a while. Consistency is the key.:D

Marquez is quite consistent, i think that's an uninformed opinion you there. And he also scored goals for both barcelona and the national team. He had a 40 yard goal against costa rica in a gold cup match and last week scored a free kick goal for barcelona (his 6th goal for barca). I agree with roro10 on this one, all three players play for top teams so it's hard to tell who is better. Salcido is also insanely good, and in my opinion better than marquez.

hmm Im a big Carvalho and Andrade fan. Carvalho is excellent in the air and tackling, reader of the game, Andrade is speedy and powerful they
complement each other well for Portugal.

Marquez is also a great player, IMO Carvalho is the best of them all.

Sorry im not familiar with the Iranian defender's so I couldnt judge him.

Yea Salcido is as good if not better than Marquez. This guy is fast, quick and agressive. I cannot wait to see him go against C. Ronaldo. He completely shut down Ronaldinho and its going to be interesting to see what he can do against Cristiano.

That is fine. You cover him on the outside with one defender and you will see what happens. EPL teams learned vary quickly that you need more than one to cover him on the outside when he is on his game and there are some pretty good defenders in EPL too.

The only way any defender stops C. Ronaldo is by fouling him...so I am quite sure that will be the only way that any Mexican defender will attempt to "Stop" him...

I can the Mexican defenders heads spinning now...:D

i've seen a lot of this player, i am not saying he's a mediocre player, but like someone else mentioned in another post...in this group D there aren't really great forwards when compared to other groups...

Yes that is correct IMO, however CR is not a forward either.;) He is midfield. Of course, you have known that because you have seen him alot.;)

CRonaldo was stopped completely by amateur Iraqui defenders at the Olympics , WHo are you guys kidding here ? He fouled an Iraqui with his elbow out of frustration . The kid is fast but he's a loose cannon that is no match for Salcido.
