No; what he said was that Sanchez is a money-whore.

The players get more money guaranteed than they would taking a risk in europe so thats why players like salcido, sanchez and kikin wont go to europe just yet. Im guessing they are waiting until they perform at the best level to get more guaranteed money in europe.

Yea agreed, there is a lot of money in Europe if your one of the great players... Even though i believe players from Mexico can play in any league in the world, it doesn't mean they'll be great players, and that means they won't make as much money. So while no one is saying there is more money in the Mexican league than in La Liga, EPL, bundesliga, or Serie A, Mexicans players do make far more money at home than they would abroad.

You guys don't watch Rafa Marquez play for Mexico, do you? He's a shadow of his Barcelona self.

He's good for at least a yellow if not a red card per game. He loses his cool constantly and is always a threat to leave El Tri with ten men. He can be baited easily. I can point to many matches from both CONCACAF qualifying and the last World Cup as proof of this.

My answer is Carlos Salcido. I'd take him over the primadonna Marquez any day of the week. The guy is so technically sound without all the baggage that Rafa brings. Salcido for sure.

Just as I take Salcido over Marquez, I take Andrade over Carvalho.

Salcido and Andrade are the best (that I know) in this group.

Yea i actually picked Salcido on the poll. I used to think Salcido was only good on Chivas, but especially after the confederations cup i am convinced that what your saying is true, he probably is Mexico's best defender. I read rumors that there were a couple German clubs trying to sign him after the Confederations cup, but i guess they were only rumors since nothing happened. In another thread i said that Salcido was going to shut down C Ronaldo cuz he defends that position. someone said that portugal's midfield players interchange a lot? maybe i'm wrong but i thought i read that, but it won't matter, Salcido is so damn good he'll shut down anyone attacking on Mexico's left.

    Are you guys blind???

The best defender is Mexico's Carlos Salcido! He's strong, fast, and a great dribbler with the ball. I don't think any of the other defenders you mentioned can dribble the ball any better than him.

    :p

    R. Marquez...But I chose R.Carvalho lol biased vote. I think Paulo Ferreira should be up there. Portugal has a strong defensive line again another biased comment I should be quiet now.

We are being biased also Jec. What we need to do is get the opinion of a Neutral Powerhouse....England, Brasil, Spain....and see who they prefer.

Salcido is close, but he still gots to show the world what he's made of. You'll see... ;) Mark my word - in the next year or two Salcido will be playing at a top club in Europe.

I say Andrade as of late has edged out Carvalho who should of been FIFA player of the year candidate along with Deco in 2004.

Rafa is good but Andrade and Carvalho proved Portugal don't need anyone in net if they are there (cause Ricardo is worse then a pylon)

I haven't seen Angola play at all, and I'm not too familiar with the Iranians either. Of that list, I have watched a lot of the 2 Portuguese and Marquez. Not a lot of Salcido, but he seems to be a smart defender. Marquez is excellent, and one of the reasons Barcelona is having a great season, believe it or not. But it has to be between Andrade and Carvalho.

I'll vote for Andrade. But I could vote for Carvalho any day. What has to be concerning for Iran, Angola and Mexico, is that these 2 make a great duo back there for the NT.

    Andrade
    Carvalho
    Marrquez

not even being biased its fact
Andrade is the best defender in Spain right now
and Carvalho spearheaded a Porto team to the CL and now practices his trade on the best team in the world Chelsea
