Players like Savage are as well, but that doesn't stop them being fan favourites. Perhaps that's what makes them so popular with the home support.

    Eh. Simple as that.

Ps. Everyone hates Savage in England. He's one off those people that you could punch all day.

    2. Marco Etcheverry
    3. Claudio Reyna (Captain America)
    4. Landon Donovan
    5. Demarcus Beasley

Hey, I'm american. I hate it when Americans with no connections to European teams say they love Ronaldinho (just an example). Love the one your with, baby.

Number 2 sounds like a Sunderland player. And i think Sunderland are the best team in the World.

    In no particular order:

    1. Marco van Basten
    2. Gary Lineker
    3. Wolfgang Dremmler ('82 German NATS)
    4. Michel Platini
    5. Peter Schmeichel

MvB and Lineker scored some of the most amazing goals I've ever seen. Dremmler was a midfield workhorse for Germany; he always did the dirty work, and was underappreciated IMHO. Platini was a magician, and Schmeichel was the best, most consistent goalkeeper ever.

I grew up watching mostly Euro ball, so I'm drawn to those I watched. I am a little young to remember Pele, although I did meet him and get to see him play some pick-up when I was in high school.

I sometimes think the newer generation plays too many games to consistently produce as some of my favorites.

Forgot about this little sunbeam. Honestly. It was an absolute joy to watch him practice football, let alone play it.

PS. that volley in Euro 88 will stay with me untill i die man. Honest to god. How he pulled of a shot from that angle is beyond me. I was an excellent footballer but i am addmiting that i wouldnt have scored from there. Magic. Sheer bloody Magic.

That just reminded me of the time in the WC 2002. Beasley was on the bench for one of the games(can't remember which game) but the camera caught him having a good long scratch at his balls, It was so funny. Does anybody know where their would be footage of that???

I don't think he was having a long scratch, he was taking a leak. There was a picture on bigsoccer of that at one time. On funniest soccer pictures or something like that.

Simple as that. Bill Clinton had to go on telly infront of the world for doing exactly the same. Well. :D :D :D :D Nearly the same. And its what footballers do. Scratch there bollocks. Have done since i can remember. Part of football. The scratch of ' the old man ' is an essential ingredient into what makes the top pro's stand out.

I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean. As explained above, Mathis is on my list because he just signed with Salt Lake. Therefore he jumped on my list as the star of my hometown team. I feel like I missed a joke, I don't know what you mean.

i think he means that many American people have Americans as their favourite players
and that you chose this little known Mathis guy over the likes of say Henry, Ronaldinho etc. he must be very American
