In no particular order, and trying NOT to pick all strikers:

    Rooney
    Fabregas
    Drogba
    Torres
    Lampard
    Tevez
    A. Cole
    Evra
    Reina

without looking at the other list, and placing heavy weight on this season's performances over previous ones...

    Rooney
    Lampard
    Ashley Cole
    Fabregas
    Drogba
    Torres
    Reina
    Gerrard
    Tevez

that's 9 players - I couldn't really decide on a 10th one. If Rio Ferdinand were healthy he'd probably get my vote, same with Ledley King. John Terry was the other one on the reckoning....

Have you just picked the 9 most famous players you know;). As much as i love Stevie he's not been one of the 10 best players in the Prem this season. It's probably pushing it labelling him one of the 10 best players on Merseyside this season.

No list here. I have correctly surmised that this thread is just to bash other people's lists ;)

Gerrard had a poor season this year. He was weighed down by carrying a team that never once looked like functioning. If you were going to judge on this seasons performances, I wouldn't have included Gerrard.

Off the top of my head, and using the age-old mantra that form is temporary, class is forever, I'd go with, and in no particular order:

    Rooney
    Drogba
    Gerrard
    Lampard
    Fabregas
    Essien
    Ashley Cole
    Patrice Evra
    Carlos Tevez
    Modric

Honourable mentions to Pepe Reina, Rio Ferdinand and Robin Van Persie.

Based on this season, no real order:

Drogba - 29 Premier league goals, only one of which was a penner, and a boatload of assists to go along with them.
Lampard - 22 Premier league goals, bunch of PKs but most assists in the league, most chance creation in the league, without doubt the player that allows Chelsea to function the way it does.
Ashley Cole - Very arguably the best LB in the world, both defensively and offensively, he was a sensation.
Fabregas - Arsenal's best player, the guy was fantastic.
Rooney - Breakout season for him, only second best to Drogba in terms of strikers.
Tevez - Total ********, but he had a fantastic year.
Evra - Best LB in the league besides Ashley. Very good year from Patrice.
Ivanovic - His first season as a consistent starter for Chelsea and he was phenomenal, one of Chelsea's most consistent performers.
Cech - Golden gloves, need I say more?
Malouda - Talk about going from zero to hero. He had an incredible year with the Blues and was often our best player even when the rest of the team underperformed.

Call me Chelsea biased, but when a team wins the double it's sure to have several players make any top whatever list.

Honorable mention would be Torres, who I could easily place into the list I made.

I didn't include Gerrard for pretty obvious reasons, he had a very sub-par season, very in line with the rest of his team.

I'm a ManUtd supporter and even I think Nani is horrible. He doesn't run at defenders and can't hit the broadside of a barn. I do agree with the Howard position though, I think he is way underrated and probably the most athletic goalkeeper in the world.

    In no order..

    1. Ashley Cole
    2. Didier Drogba
    3. Wayne Rooney
    4. Nemanja Vidic
    5. Fernando Torres
    6. Steven Gerrard
    7. Cesc Fabregas
    8. Michael Essien
    9. Rio Ferdinand
    10. Robin Van Persie

Its tough.. tried to include some players from outside the Big 3 (and Liverpool ;)), but none quite made the cut for me.

    Drogba
    Essien
    Rooney
    Torres
    Cesc
    Tevez
    A Cole

I think those 7 are indisputable imho

For me at the moment on the other three I'll take

    Modric
    Vidic
Lampard (whom I despise and think is overated ... but that said, he is central to what Chelsea do, and he does his job great)

Ferdinand was only injured last season, but before that he has been putting in world class performances for 6-7 seasons. Similar with terry.

Ferdinand and terry will always be considered better than king.

King, but no ferdinand, gallas, vidic and terry?

Ferdinand, gallas, vidic and terry when fit (which they are fit for the majoirty of the time, compared to king) are better than king

He might be arsenal's best player, but he got steamrolled in all big games in the last 2 seasons. As captain he failed to inspire the team in the 2 season run ins in 08/09 and 09/10, fabregas was anonymous in all big games. Vieira never crawled back into his shell

Maybe true, but he easily does enough the rest of the season to be considered in the best 10 players in the Prem.. In my opinion.

A Gallas is so far past his peak. In fact, he was released by Arsenal and doesn't even have a club, so he can't be mentioned here.

If this is a list of the best performing EPL players last season then you've got to recognise these guys.

    Hart
    Drogba
    Murphy
    Dawson
    Fabregas
    Milner
    Evra
    Bent
    Tevez
