I'd have to think Fred would have been included on that list had he not been acting as he has. He could even actually top the list I think if Juninho's game goes into decline. Now, though, I think my top 10 is:

    1. Juninho (OL)
Remains one of the best players in L1, though he has retired international duty.
    2. Fred (OL)
Could be one of the 2 best strikers in L1, along with Benzema, though appears more than a bit selfish and self-centered.
    3. Cris (OL)
The best defender in L1 when healthy, but is injured now.
[4. Grafite would have been here, but he's now in Germany]
    4. Wendel (Bordeaux)
One of the best left-sided players in France, and has been very good this season.
    5. Émerson Passos (Rennes)
Signed by the Bretagne club before the deadline, he's got more speed than anyone on this list.
    6. Nenê (ASM)
Signed by Monaco, he has already shown a bit of class with a free kick against Bordeaux, but could have difficulty cracking the ASM lineup.
    7. Fernando (Bordeaux)
Would rank a lot higher on many other people's lists, though I think Fernando is likely not outstanding enough in any area and Alou Diarra has outshone him thus far in this season.
    8. Adriano (ASM)
Signed by Monaco right before the deadline, will eventually get a shot at right back because he's got more skill than Cufré.
    9. Anderson Cléber (OL)
He will only be a fill-in at OL, but he's a solid defender.
    10. Bolívar (ASM)
    Solid, hard-working defender.

As to their list, I haven't really been impressed by Éderson, though he is highly regarded by a bunch of folks I know. Hilton and Ilan are solid performers in L1, though I don't get the feeling that they'll emerge as anything more. I haven't seen Rodrigo, who's now at Strasbourg, at all, though according to the L'Equipe/France Football, he's done decently well. Michel Bastos has been good on occasion, though I've always been impressed more by Lille's other midfielders.

I'm surprised Fred isn't on that list, but he hasn't played in L1 game since last May. Nene just got here and hasn't had time to make much of an impact. Fabinho did pretty well for Toulouse last season.

    Fernando
    Wendel
    Jussiê
    Paulo Andre
    De Melo
    Hilton
    Bastos
    Emerson
    Cris
    Juninho
    Fred
    Vivian
    Fabio Santos
    Bolivar
    Andre Luiz

    Rodrigo Ramos
    Fabinho
    Paulo Cesar
    Jeovanio
    Rafael Moura
    Nenê

    3) Ilan
    4) Hilton
    5) Ederson
    6) Nenê
    7) Fred
