Honestly, I like South american players more than Central Americans. See Amada Guevarra, he is a good player, but is arrogant and this is affecting the team. We have had more success with south american players than central american. If the Red Bull go and oversees the Colombian first division, they will find a few good strikers ( Matador ) at a very cheap price. I watch colombian soccer sometimes, and I'm very surprised at their level of skills. In addition, they put their hearts into the game, just like Sergio Galvan Rey.

I watch Colombian soccer all the time on Goal TV. I'm an Hincha of Junior de Barranquilla. It's very different from what we have here. There is a reason that Sergio Galvan Rey was "El Rey de los goles" in Colombia and couldn't replicate that here. Rubencho was scoring 30+ goals a season in Colombia and scored none here. Alex Comas scored a decent amount of goals here but was scoring 30+ a season in Colombia. Same with Pitufo De Avila. What is the reason? Maybe a combination of more open play, less physical play and the all important midfielder that can put the ball into a forward's stride like magic. Think Valderrama - who played for Junior, and Marco Echeverry - the Bolivian who played for America de Cali.

    I agree with you Viper.

Also, I think that one of the reason is that Galvan Rey was too short for American Players and was often outplayed. Dont get me wrong, he is very skillfull and i think he could score 15 goals in MLS if given the chance. But, I think he struggle with the physical play of MLS. El Tren and Comas and Serna did better because they are tall and strong. Same with Jaime Moreno. Moreno is very strong. Jaime Moreno is the type of south american player that can be successful in MLS ( physical + skills ) = good result in MLS. Galvan is skillful, but no a physical threat like Jaime o el Tren. Jaime is from Bolivia of course. El Pitufo de Avila was skillful, but also was a savage wild player who runs very fast. So he was able to get even with strong players. El Pibe is a different case. El Pibe is not as strong as one might think, but had a PERFECT ball control. I've never seemed a player as skillful in the midfield like El Pibe. In fact, many people (including me ), think that Colombia did not go to 2000 Japon y Korea World Cup becuase El Pibe did not play. They tried to talk to him, but he did not want to. I think that Colombia lacked a Midfielder like El Pibe during the 2000 hexagonal. El Pibe is my heroe.
