The only time this season that our offense has been dangerous was the first twenty minutes of the opener in DC when we actually played the ball up the wings and created crosses. The entire team is built to function that way, yet we haven't played that way since the first game of the season's first half. It's crazy.
What's the deal with Jolley? He's not injured. He does have experience, he's a vocal person and has good team ethic. How come Mo does not put him in? He used to be part of a very effective man makrking side. Is he washed up??? why did we trade for him then? If we went to the trouble of getting him and giving him his old number bac , why not see what he brings to the defense. We've had horrid defense for a while.... our best guy now was, what?, the last draft pick? Someone who knows, please explain.
#1 Stop panicing. #2 Stop running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. #3 It's the same damn arguments we all keep hearing about from OZ to Bradley & now to Mo. #4 Peguero just got off the plane in the morning and was throw in quickly to play this past Saturday. #5 So many rumors going around of Mo's firing that it did truly effect the players and sadly they got shelled. #6 How many times have we had a club keep the same players past one season. #7 Canero is more like a bush than a tree because he was barely getting playing time and he only started one match. #8 Youri's 2nd goal of the season was the first assisted goal of the RBNY Season. #9 It's so simple to use the "Paid $100 Million for this Club" Excuse by us and any other fan outside of the club to make fun or to use as a negative excuse. #10 Nepotisium really works, just ask everyone who has supported this club for the last 10 years. #11 Continue to hear people jumping ship and giving up because they have had enough of this club. It's easier to support an European club than to be brave and bold to stay with Metro/RBNY #12 Still have 2 Senior International slots available. #13 four matches played, yes should have had 5 pts by now, but it's 3 and so far only 1 loss on the record. #!4 Still support this club and will never leave and they will be better now that Peguero has the proper time to train and learn and we will see an improvment this Saturday night.
i just saw an ad for the bun and thigh roller, sounds kinda cool but seriously im not really surprised by the way RB is reacting, as when chivas came into the league, cue seriously underestimated MLS, whether this season is lost is up for debate, but RB wants results, they took salzburg from a relegation dogfight team to a chance at a uefa cup spot, and they're hoping to get the same from metro-redbulls, i think next year, red bull will be more of a contender, than they are now, but they need a confidence boost on field rite now, and that's hard to do knowing u'll probably get traded or fired after the game just like the fans, RB needs to be patient, i am glad that they are fixing up the front office, that MPF crap was just ridiculous, but its gonna take some time, and we all need to be patient, this coming from a dcunited fan
While my head tells me to be patient, and that patience will pay off in the end my heart, particularly after this weekend, tells me that big changes are needed. In favor of patience are certain facts - it has only been four games and we only have one loss, Parke has played better than most of us expected, our new forward needs some time to get used to the team and most importantly we have two SI spots that will likely be filled after the world cup giving us a significant portion of the season with an improved team. These points, combined with the boost we should get when other teams are hurt by WC callupssuggest we will be in the hunt. In favor of panic - history. this franchise seems to always find a way to fail in the end. Given the rose colored glasses many of us put on when Red Bull spent a ton of money. I think we, or at least I, fell for the belief that a quick fix was coming.
I would suggestl patience. There has been too much turmoil to date -- and all while the season was just getting underway. We really need a stretch of time to let things sort themselves out, come what may. We need to find out if Mo really can bring out the best in what we have, to find out if Amado is going to be a player or a prick, to let the defense settle in and see if it can become a cohesive unit. Nothing will be solved by constant change. There is no quick fix to our situation, and we need to learn the truth: just how bad or how good are we? One thing we do not need are DC cretins jumping in with smart-aleck remarks. I'm becoming more and more upset that we can't discuss team problems among ourselves without supposedly well-intentioned "help" or wise-cracking trolls polluting the stream.
I actually think some of these DC fans have brought out some real valid opinons and points so i don't have a problem that they are posting without being Red Bull Fans. Some I could do without , of course but I don't think all DC fans are being smartalecics. DCSharksFc, I actually think sounds like most of us frustrated old Metrofans so I say let them post. It's free country and they are soccer fans so what is the real problem with them posting really?
Evidently the problem is mine, and I should retire to the Metrofanatic site. I can understand pan-league posting on MLS sites such as business and analyisis and rivalries. Personally, I don't want to read their gems on what is a RB fan board. I can ignore them or leave, and I can live with a combination of the two. I will stop all compaints, since I don't intend to recognize their presence here.
I have to agree with you with all your points. I will only include one: 1- get good colombian players. Colombian players are good and cheap. We have had success with them in the past.
At this rate, NYRB has to start considering slashing the tires of the opposing team's bus. (sorry, I had to put this somewhere)
Can steps 1-7 be get rid of Guevara? I wouldn't be too concerned with the ENTIRE back line, but you do need at least one veteran leader back there. Hell one of our starting center backs scored 3 own-goals last season, and he still starts. You need a D-mid besides O'Rourke, who learned his tactics from one Ritchie Williams, I believe, except Ritchie was at least faster and could get in front of the guy with the ball instead of foul him off it a little more than half the time. I think you've got a good set of starting forwards, they just need a center mid with more brains and team spirit, and less susceptible to the sudden overwhelming pulls of gravity from which he suffers....Though the refs in this league tend to buy them way more often than not (Remember Serna?), and with Youri taking free kicks, that could be an asset, even if we absolutely hate it. He's got talent, but he was playing like Freddy for the first two years. Very prima-donna...capable of some great goals and individual effort, but lost the ball far more times than he performed to that level. With a more distributive mindset, he'd go back to being sufficiently dangerous. I think he's done, tho'.
Fixed a minor quibble with your post, which I otherwise agreed with completely. What this really shows is that the two most "needed" moves for RBNY are: 1. Master time travel. 2. Go back in history and DON'T make all your stupid trades. and I would add #3: Hire a GM who knows what he's doing and won't let the coach send players packing after one bad practice.
Tim Ward was never a quality anything. We haven't had a decent backline since I really don't know when. It's no good now and was no good then.
I think you've got a good set of starting forwards, they just need a center mid with more brains and team spirit, and less susceptible to the sudden overwhelming pulls of gravity from which he suffers....Though the refs in this league tend to buy them way more often than not You mean like Ben Olsen?
If we had a coach / GM who would admit that our backline really can't cut it. It'd be another thing to actually put in the time at practice to fix it. It is beyond belief that you had a guy like Bradley just bring in Pope to fix the defense and then the guy coasts his time away and sez nothing to the other backs. It is insane that our best back was the last draft pick last year. That should tell you that the people doing our picking don't know Pepsi from Pop Tarts (two very good teams by the way). And we have had a long succession of lazy, lazy, lazy coaches /GM that either can not recognize the problem, would rather not deal with it or don't know how to fix it. It's just sad that the mentality is to just trade up and re-shuffle the deck instead of rolling up your sleeves and fixing it. I know the US is "young" at soccer/football but we come off as spoiled dolts with such an instant gratification attitude. We all want to be George Steinbrenner and buy the Cosmos again or just have the winners of Americn Idol and The Apprentice come in we can watch two people change a whole team to gold. It is sad, sad, sad that this is still the mentality. You have to work at and develop a team. This is really nothing new. And what's worse is that in ten plus years they are still trying to buy their way into a team instead of practicing. We won't admit the problems and are too lazy to actually work out the solution. And that means you, Mo. Clearly you know good defense from bad and obviously you see no one is marking well. Fix it. Anything less is just lazy crap and from OZ and Bob I'd expect no less.... but you, we did have hopes you gave a sh---. But i guess you don't. Do you? Go ahead and make another trade, it's easier than working. Show you care, do something and work for it! That's the main frustration here. All we can do is sit and watch you cut players or bring in another savior. We never get to see what you are working on, cuz you never work on anything.
I you are talking about El Tren Valencia and Pitufo De Avila, I will somewhat agree. They scored some great goals but never really had that great midfielder to feed them the great balls they needed to score (like Valderrama). Alex Comas was decent. Rubencho sucked, Arley Palacios sucked, Pedro Alvarez sucked, Galvan Rey (although Argentinian - naturalized Colombian) really sucked. Any other Colombian former Metros? I can't really agree with you that, overall, we have had success with Colombian players. That said, there is one Colombian player that might be available and we should try to aquire if at all possible, and that is... Juan Pablo Angel, currently playing with Aston Villa of the English Premier League. Had a poor season for Villa, to put it mildly, but he's a skilled forward who's used to the physical game of the Premier League. I think he'll fit right in, partnering Ronaldo uptop and with Zidane (who Der Kaiser will coax out of retirement), Youri and Guevarra in the midfield. Ha, Ha!
Columbus just picked up Ezra for the LB spot, The Crew boards are postulating that Sigi doesn't think Ward is ready just yet
Before he got hurt, Ward played well last year. I can buy the argument that he doesn't fit so well into a 3-man backline, but I think we should be using four in the back anyway. Although I haven't checked out the Crew boards, I wonder if Crew fans have seen enough of Ward to do more than speculate as to what Sigi's reasoning might be for not playing him. If Ward was with RBNY now, I'd prefer to see him starting over the players we have.
You mean Mendes? Yes. But really, Guevara has to get his butt into gear or any of the other changes are absolutely useless
First of all, I agree with Pedro Alvarez. He came here with a very great reputatation, then dissappointed us all. However, Arley Palacios was a decent player with the Metros. Alex Coma's personal problems with Octavio Zambrano, cost him his job, but he was a constant threat and believe it or not, he scored a lot of goals while coming out of the bench. He playing time was very limited, but managed to score anyway. El Tren did very well. He was just getting old. Pitufulo de Avila was the MEtrostar's Ronaldhino. He did great with us. Diego Serna was here for just a few games. I know Juan Pablo Angel is not doing well, but I'm sure he can find work in another club in Europe. He is good. I dont see him in MLS anytime soon. Last, Galvan Rey was a victim of Bob Bradley's frustration with the team. He expected Sergio to score in each Metro game. His playing time was also limited, like Alex Comas. He was a decent player who score important goals last year. If he plays the whole season as a regular, he can score like 15 goals, however, Bob never gave him a real chance. He was a fan favorite as well.
Man, how the hell did I forget about Serna. He was great in Miami but did nothing the few games that he played for the Metros. There's another player who needs that great midfielder/s which the Metros really never had. I can't really judge Serna as he wasn't with us for long.
