Hi guys, I created this list for Forza Italian Football featuring the goals I've considered to be the best scored by the Azzurri: http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2014/05/top-10-greatest-ever-italy-world-cup-goals-1970-2010/ Roberto Baggio is in the list on three occasions, which goes to show what an amazing player he was as well as the goals he scored. I was going to include Dino Baggio's long-range strike against Spain from USA 94 but I think the 10 I've got here were fantastic. There was a great selection to choose from. Thoughts?
Before I checked your list my initial impression was the goal Baggio scored against The Czechs. Glad to see we are in agreement.
Great stuff. For me, number one will always be Marco Tardelli's goal in the 1982 final as I was watching it on tv with my grandfather while visiting Italy that glorious summer. Number two is Grosso's goal against Germany as I was at the game and it was surreal when that went in...in front of 70000 stunned Germans.
Although this is about World Cup goals I might use this thread to remind everyone of two fantastic goals scored by Franco Causio and Mauro Bellugi. This goal of Mauro Bellugi which you can see at 3:05 was not only exceptional because it was such a spectacular goal, no, amazingly, in his whole senior carer - which lasted from 1969 to 1981 - in all 306 competitive games (including caps) this was the only goal he ever scored! But what a goal! His goal is at 3:05. And check out this splendid goal scored by Franco Causio for Italy against then World Champions Argentina in 1979:
Vincenzo Iaquinta vs Ghana (2006)... Picks up an injury... gets stretchered off.. looks like hes done for the night, if not the whole tournament lol, gets "magic sprayed" on the sidelines... comes back in and within a min or two at full sprint picks off a back pass and game over at that point. Che Miracolo! haha
