According to reports we have agreed a deal to selll Nobby to Villa!

I don't believe it, no doubt we will be treated to Dyers, Jenas or Bowyers feeble attempts to play on right side of midfield. Solano is a class act and £1m or so is a steal, for a player who actually wanted to play for us!!

I think Bobby has got this one totally wrong as I don't think it's a fluke that we have started looking a better team with Nobby in it. I hope not too much is expected of Ambrose (the only logical replacement we have) as he is still only young and will have to replace a real crowd favourite.

If we are looking too off load players perhaps we could have started with that overated ponce Viana!

I am more gutted at this sale then I am when we sold Cole or Waddle. Just the news I needed after the Liverpool cup exit.

If reports are true that the money from Nobby's and Corts sale are going towards buying Stephen Carr or Nicky Butt, can I just say BOLLOCKS!!!! who would you want Nobby or one of those two?

    Nobby vs. Bobby

Maybe Bobby is thinking of the long-term, here. Solano is 29, and I don't think Robson ever really liked him that much. They've had lots of arguments over Peru, and Nobby's been in and out of the squad. Of course, in the latest thing I read, Sir Bobby insisted that Solano wanted to leave, and that he was reluctant to let him go. Villa have got a good player.

I didn't realize Dyer was such a bad option on the right, and if Bowyer ever refinds his form of 4 years ago...

There may even be a little money to spend after this and Cort's transfer (finally, eh?).

As far as links to Nicky Butt, I haven't seen any. Robson may be thinking of how to replace Speed in the middle (he's what, 33-34?), not that Butt is much younger.

    This stinks.

I think the assessment by NUFC.com pretty much sums the situation up.

Especially in the wake of the FA Cup departure, it sure seems that the club felt that a significant player had to be sold... and given the lot of those available, it wasn't likely to be a particularly young player nor one transferred within the past year or so.

Given the amoung of talented -- and expensive -- players in the middle of the park, all signs really did point to Nobby.

I don't hold Robson directly responsible for this, howerver he's certainly indirectly responsible as this action comes as a result of too many players failing to "perform at rolls royce levels."

A terrible decision. Well, I hope some of the youngsters come good. For as much as people want to talk about the future, we need to focus on the present. We really need to qualify for the Champions' League. Placing your faith in youngsters to do that is quite risky. Nobody that I've seen on the squad does what Nobby does or is capable of doing on the right.

Suggestions of Dyer are quite laughable. He's not a wide midfield player at all.

I really haven't seen much of Ambrose. Which brings up this question: If he's good enough, why hasn't he played more??

Bowyer obviously did not do well there earlier in the season. So, unless he regains some form, or the other players we try happen to work out, the right side of our midfield is going to be weak.

D'oh! One of my favorite players is gone? What an unexpected surprise.

Unless the club gets Nicky Butt, or Ambrose develops or Bowyer wakes up from his slumber, or Jenas get his head out of his arsenal, the club is in trouble in the midfield.

Having given it some thought I think that of all the options Ambrose would be the best. The bits I have seen of him does suggest that he is a good player I just hope the crowd doesn't get on his back and expect too much as he is replacing a real favourite, he is just a young lad, but I do think he's got a good future.

However, I think that Bobby has sold Nobby as Bellamy is almost back to full fitness which would put him in the team ahead of Dyer in a striking position. Getting rid of Nobby will mean that Bobby can shift Dyer there and keep him in the team.

I must admit I have real reservations about this Dyer cannot play on right, and keeps disapearing into the middle of the park. Every time he plays there, you can see Aaron Hughes get the ball start up the wing look up and there is nobody for him to pass to as Dyer has gone inside instead of offering himself as an option, (to a lesser extent Bowyer is guilty of this also), so we have no right side and Hughes suffers also, I don't think it is a co-insidence that Hughes form is suffering as he doesn't have somebody playing in front of him that gives him an option with the ball, therefore the ball goes backwards or sideways from him. If I can see this why can't Bobby?

The other thing I really don't understand is is there anybody who actually thinks that our alleged traget Carr is a better player than say Andy Griffin? I could see the logic in signing Butt to a degree as Speed is getting older and his supposed cover Vianna cannot tackle!

We sign a creative midfielder and bang, 5-0 win away. Our biggest since 1933 (and our only away win since then, or so it feels, 3rd win in our last 31 away matches). Can I just say thanks for your generosity and propose an heraldic promotion for SBR, from Sir Bobby to Lord Robson of Aston.
