I don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere on BigSoccer:

"World Traveler," NorthWest Airlines' magazine's (you know, the thing in your seat-back pocket) cover story for September 2002 is about Tony Sanneh and US soccer. There really isn't any ground breaking info in the article, but it's 6 pages (3 text/3 pictures) of positive commentary on US soccer and interview with Tony. And there is a giant picture of Tony on the cover (with no other cover pictures to draw your attention away).

Like most non-soccer-magazine articles on the game in the US, the article speaks mostly about soccer's growing acceptance in the states. If you're in an airport (and not flying NorthWest) in the few weeks you may walk over to a NorthWest gate and ask one of the employees for a copy of September's "World Traveler."

Dude! I'm gonna book a flight on Northwest just to see it! Then maybe they'll put more soccer players on their inflight magazine covers!

Seriously though, that is nice to see.

I cannot figure out why Sanneh and McBride were NOT among the 3 finalists for the award as best nats player 2002.

Ask the 277 media folk who are responsible for the list of finalists.

I believe club play was taken into consideration also.

All three finalists played exceptional for their clubs, McBride and Sanneh did not play as well for their respective clubs.

I think I'm flying Northwest to the MLS Cup.

Nice to see that kind of stuff pop up in random places.

Sanneh is from St. Paul. Northwest is based in the Mpls/St. Paul area and they are a sponsor of one of his former teams, the MN Thunder.
