https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=46663 I posted a thread about a mistake in a Star-Ledger article saying that this past weekend was his first time as a field player with an MLS team when in fact it was not. Comments?
It was at the end of a crazy match, must have been the 2nd or 3rd season. Can't remember if Thornton came on or what, but it was in a frenzied few final moments. He also played striker in one of the all star games, if memory serves.
Columbus Crew--May 11th, 1997 3 subs in the 57th minute. Then Sorber went down and Thornton came on. Meola moved to forward (wearing #1) unlike this past weekend.
Ahhh....yes, those were the days. We need a Metro where are they now file. Whatever happened to Sorber? MetroStars96: some memory!!!
Nostalgia time: Tony played a bit of forward (and keeper) with Kearney Thistle in the Garden State Semi-Pro League, pre-MLS. I had the pleasure of marking him. He's got a pretty good shot, I tell ya!
was all-state as a foward and keeper in high school..i believe keeper junior year and foward senior @ kearny high
Sorber is now the assistant coach at St. Louis University. www.geocities.com/metromascot/wherearetheynow Just imagine if Dan R and I joined forces
He was a good field player. I even think he had the goal of the year when he stopped playing goal and moved up as a field player when his club team fell behind.
