It was at the end of a crazy match, must have been the 2nd or 3rd season. Can't remember if Thornton came on or what, but it was in a frenzied few final moments.

He also played striker in one of the all star games, if memory serves.

3 subs in the 57th minute. Then Sorber went down and Thornton came on. Meola moved to forward (wearing #1) unlike this past weekend.

Nostalgia time: Tony played a bit of forward (and keeper) with Kearney Thistle in the Garden State Semi-Pro League, pre-MLS. I had the pleasure of marking him. He's got a pretty good shot, I tell ya!

He was a good field player. I even think he had the goal of the year when he stopped playing goal and moved up as a field player when his club team fell behind.
