I'd like to think that United have bigger plans for Cooper than letting him play in D3 next season, but I guess one never knows how these things will pan out. Well John Stead began the season in D3 and is now scoring at Blackburn.If Kenny does the business in D3 he will get a chance-possibly quicker than if stays at Old Trafford.
talking about this guy, why other people discover a great player in US ahead of Bruce Arena ? don't you think we should be the one who discover any good player first and sell them to the clubs ?
Couldn't agree more. I'm sick and tired of Arena doing things like preparing for friendlies, World Cup Qualifying, training the first team, scouting competition, monitoring professional players in our playing pool etc etc. He should spend more time scouting Dallas area highschool games. Kenny wasn't "discovered" by ManU. He was "discovered" by friends of the family who had connections at ManU.

It also should be noted that David Beckham got his chance after playing in the Third Division for Preston North End in season 93/94.
I thought Beckham came up through Man. U. Did he get loaned out for that one season and then back to Man??
I don't disagree that getting regular first-team time in D3 is better than regular first-team time with Man U's under-19s. It's probably also better than getting occasional first-team time with Man U's reserves. The next step up, should he stay at Man U next season, would logically be 1) a regular place in the reserves' starting lineup and 2) potentially bench time and appearances with the first team, not to mention regular first-team training. Whether that is better than a year of D3 play can probably be argued ad nauseum.
You do not think that he should have been discovered by one of our national team programs?? He should have been in our under-20 player pool, forward was one of our weakest positions on that team. The under-20 team starts lookin for players 2 years before the world champioship and in took a contract from Man Utd for him to get on the radar. Something is wrong. SMU did not miss him, he has trainded with the Dallas Burn, You gotta blame someone. If not Arena someone is to blame for missing this kid
I am not sure why there has to be blame since he has so far done exactly nothing. Someone wants him for a low division team? Fine.
He was very close to the u-20 team. Somebody else got picked over him. Please give it up. 19 is too young an age to be having these kind of quibbles. There is nothing harder than figuring out who will be a great player. And our forwards weren't bad there were just better forwards in the tournament. There are a lot of good forwards in world youth tournaments. Don't forget, he has a EU passport which makes it a lot easier for him to be in ManU.

Teddy Sheringham never really got much of a look in the first team until he went on loan to Djurgården... That was about 300 goals ago....
Oh, no!!!! Cooper playing in English D3! Will this be like playing in German BL4? I heard that we get better high school matches here than these low level competitions in Europe. Cooper, our latest teenage sensation, should really return to sunny Texas to play for the Dallas Burn.
Yes Beckham did go on loan to Preston before breaking into the first team, this is common practice other here in England as it shows what the players can do against more experienced players. It is actually quite supprising that Utd didn't let Cooper go to Wycombe as he's no where near the first team yet.
Welcome to bigsoccer. Just to get you up to speed a bit. Around here any player who has visited Europe--heck, even if you have a passport--deserves to be called into camp for the U.S. nats. That goes double for someone playing with the ManU reserves. In fact, the word is that in the next European friendly (vs. Poland), we're going to field an all-England reserve squad. P.S. I thought Cooper has been playing fairly steady in the reserves. Maybe I am wrong. Have you seen him play?
