The following is our broadcast schedule for tonight. Tune in and let us know what you think. Metro Soccer Report on MSG-TV, 6:00 p.m. and Midnight Inside NJ Soccer on News 12 NJ, 10:35 p.m. and 11:35 p.m. MLS Wrap on MSG-TV, 7:00 p.m.
I can't wait for tonights long awaited episode! I got a sneek peek. Tonights episode is about how the evil and DEVILISH Nick really is. The show opens up during a metro staffmeeting and it shows Nick yelling at the ticket sales guys, he goes on to fire 4 guys and a female intern to "make an example of them" for not having enough sales for the month. He then tells the few workers that he has left that he has new leads and gives each worker a copy of the NJ White Pages and tells them to start cold calling. Later on you see nick and his good personal friend washed up boxer Andrew Golota at a chip n dales club drinking really really cheap polish yack the type that rots away at you like battery acid upon contact with your skin. they plot and plan to hurt Mike Petke for being a "little traitor" Nick tells his goon for hire to punch up Petke and then hit his knee with a pipe. Nick then heads back to the office drunk and gets a phone call where Harrison officials call and say to nick that they are ready to build a stadium but drunken nick tells them to call him back in 60 to 90 days and hangs up. He later finds out that because of his delay he lost the land to Kodak where the former stadium sight will now be a film factory. Nick is so mad that he decides to unleash his FIST OF FURY upon his abused family...
The Metro Soccer Report is excellent. It would be even better if the focus was exclusively on the Metros, IMHO. No need to cover nats, etc., except as it relates to Metro. Would Shep have apologized for his support of Wolyniec? It was strange seeing JP speak on his behalf.
Very clever. Have a soccer show that doesn't cover our national team. Metro Soccer Report is perfect. Leave it as it is.
Well, I'd seen enough coverage of the national team vs. Mexico match by the time I saw the Metro Report. It didn't add to anything I'd already seen, so I thought perhaps the time would be better spent with exclusive focus on the Metros, since it is a Metrostars show, or isn't it? By your logic, copaantl98, every soccer show should cover the national team. That doesn't sound very "clever" to me. The Metro Soccer Report is a local show, and I think that is where the focus should be. The national coverage was a distraction that took away some precious time. Perfect? Nothing is, but it is great as is.
Metro Soccer Report is great! Metros MSG coverage is great! I liked Tab Ramos a lot! Show more of the ESC and the away supporters when they show up!
Oh so now every station we turn to talks about our national team? If anything, they should not cover what goes on in European soccer. we ahve to think about the new fans. They will surely be mixed up between club and country.
coppantl98, good points! What I'd like is exclusive coverage of the Metros, so national team info (US, Honduras) as relates to them is fine by me. You are absolutely right that overseas club play simply doesn't belong.
I agree that it's silly for the metro report to cover the nats or europe. I'd rather see more about the metros, or MLS in general. Or even clips of Metro Black or other lower division area teams.
Ganush34, exactly! I'd love to hear about MetroBlack and how the other NY/NJ USL sides are doing, and what (if any) is their interaction with Metros at management and training levels. There are new clubs upstate in Albany and Syracuse, both cities that carry MSG (well, I know the Albany area does); I'd much rather hear about them than what I expect from ESPN and/or FSW in terms of national and international coverage. MSG should maintain its local focus with this show. Is "Metro Soccer Report" supposed to refer exclusively to the Metrostars (if so, do so), or does it imply metro-area soccer, or is it just a soccer report to fans in the metro area?
I agree people love to watch themselves on tv so if you focus on local stuff they will be more into the show. Theres already like 10 other shows that recap International soccer, all before the Metro Soccer Report so people will know the scores already, no need to inform them again. I mean it wouldnt hurt to every once in a while drop in a important Nats game or whatever but 95% of the show should be Metro and local leagues/teams or maybe just about neighboorhoods that have alot of pick up games.
I'd guess that the primary reason why there is an international report on MSR is because British Airways pays to sponsor it. So if it keeps the show on, it's fine. Overall, complaining about the international report on MSR is like complaining that the bank gave you old looking 20s when you robbed it. It's a first-rate show.
Dude no one is complaining, I think we can all honestly say that we will watch this show no matter what. But they asked for our opinion so thats what it is.
I saw the Metro Soccer Report tonight. Some thoughts: 1) Steve Jolley went way out of his way to praise Eddie Pope in an interview. After the DC match, Steve and Mike Petke gave each other a half-hearted hug. I don't think there's anyone happier in the world then Jolley that Petke got traded. He always resented that Petke got the praise and glory while he did all the dirty work. 2) Does Ricardo Clark do any interviews on TV? It would be nice to hear from the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year. Is he a mute? 3) Tonight's ratings might not do so well.....the show went up against "Real Sex 26" on HBO
I don't know if this would be allowed for a variety of reasons, but I think showing MLS Wrap much earlier in the week would be great. People who can't get digital or a dish, and thus no Fox Sports World, would be extremely grateful.
