like pac-bell park They should have put in a viewing platform by the scoreboard. for $2.00 a person to watch from up there. when you couldn't afford a ticket.
Seen the Cadaver section this season....um, opps, of course you have. If the empty seats around you on opening day when they announced a sell out attendance of 27k doesn't convince you. Well, I'm not sure what can.
Re: like pac-bell park It's already slated for expansion someday (based on architect drawings). I expect they will be cheaper seats but more like 15-18 bucks, I suspect.
I was surprised that the mid-week attendence was as good asit was. 13,800 for a Wednesday would certainly be among our alltime highs for mid-week games. And while I have no idea what the cost structure is, a Victoria Street crowd of 13,800 has to generate a gross box office revenue equal or greater than a crowd of 28 to 30,000 at the Rose Bowl.
I wasn't disputing what you said - it is simply almost true by definition. In the immediate area where I was sitting there were very few open seats - maybe three in my row and two in the row ahead of me. Remember some people with club seats will choose to sit in the restaurant and eat dinner during the game. Particularly on a wednesday night game when you get down there right from the office, that is a pretty attractive option.
Attendance About 13900 tonight. It was a very good crowd, especially for a Wednesday night in LA. Some of the Wednesday crowds @ the Rose Bowl were around 5,000. 13900 Looks pretty full and makes quite a lot of noise. Too bad the Galaxy fell apart in the final 45 minutes.
Wow, over 13K: I'm pleasantly surprised. It was nice to see a couple of people in their dressed-down business attire rushing into the game. That's right people, come on down, cheer on the team and help pay off the complex.
Hmmm just over 50% of capacity. Am I the only one smart enough to have guessed that they would have ANNOUNCED just over 50% before I even got there? Did anyone who attended think they had nearly 14,000 there? I sure don't.
Wednesday's Game Thanks, I have been reading and lurking for some time and finally decided to write in... I was actually at the game, and the 13900 looked pretty good. There were a lot of empty seats at the North end (BTW how do they mow that grass when it is at that angle?), but the rest of the stadium was about 65% full. All of the people I was with said that they wanted to come back for more and most of them had never been to a Galaxy game. The HDC oozes class and I think that makes people feel more comfortable with seeing a soccer game. In 1990 I watched the Heat play to 500 fans at West High in Torrance and LOVED every minute of it. We've come a LOOOONG way and 13000+ on a week night is a HUGE accomplishment.
Hey Dumbass, I actually had to miss the game to take my girlfriend to the Linda Eder concert at the Ford Amphitheatre. There were lots of men there, sipping white wine with their "dates" - - you would have loved it, Ben. That said, next time you're going to the game, PM me and yes, I'll buy you a beer, Dickweed. Topper
I was surprised by the attendance. My girlfriend and I went to the game and I was telling her how we'll probably be sitting alone and not that many people there(this is her second soccer game ever and she's a new fan) but our section(132) was pretty much full.
Have you thought about the amount of self-inflicted injury to your manly image that you just did with that revelation?
