Was Tommy Smyth on dope or what on Sat. He compared Bob Bradley to Sir Alex Ferguson now that was a stretch. Ferguson cant just go out and buy a player the club must give him the money. If they say no its kind of like a salary cap of sorts. MLS manager have it so good no pressure from the media. I think compared to the managers overseas it a cakewalk. So there Tommy Smith with an I which in this case stands for IDIOT.

    Dispute these statements:

Ferguson has more money to spend than any of his domestic peers.

Bradley has the same amount of money to spend as his domestic peers (adjusted for conspiracy theories and MLS behind-the-scenes rumors).

That was his point; Ferguson may not have a blank check, but he's got a lot closer to a blank check than anyon in the EPL or MLS, and maybe closer than anyone but Real Madrid globally.

All you EPL elitists need to come up for some air. Tommy was simply trying to provide people who know nothing of Bradley some idea of how good a coach he is. Ferguson is the class of the EPL and Bradley is the class of MLS. Why is it a stretch to compare the two? Their abilities to build winners in their respective leagues are similar.

Obviously Ferguson's job is on a grander scale, but nobody was arguing that. Anyone bothering to point that out is just a little self-absorbed.

For those of you who want to scoff at this comparison, I would LOVE to see Ferguson operate under the rigors of the MLS salary cap and roster size. Let's see if he runs away with the league. Conversely, I would love to see what Bob Bradley could do with the deep pockets and prestige of a Manchester United.

Apply this to the two respective leagues as a whole and see what happens...

Fergie bought Ferdinand last year for 30Mil Pounds which is about $50mil. I think the salary cap for an MLS team is $2.5mil. 10 teams=$25mil total salary cap for the WHOLE league. Which is half what Fergie paid for Rio.
    'Nuff said. Tommy is right.

As everyone has already stated, I thought Tommy did a fine job in simply pointing out what a great job Bradley does, especially given all the constraints he has to work under, and how it's a totally different situation than, say, Fergie at Man U who has boo-ku bucks to lavish around (albeit while answering to shareholders). He didn't say Bradley was better than Fergie, or even his equal, but he was giving him mad props which of course he deserves (like him or dislike him).

Oranges are round and generally orange in color with a peel that needs to be removed, while apples aren't as round and tend to be red or green with a skin you can eat.

There. I compared apples and oranges.
