    From ESPN.com's chat wrap:

"soccer in the US is like an 18-wheeler at the moment .. it's just starting to pick up speed and like I have been saying to people in the media, you better start jumping on the bandwagon now or you will have a lot of catching up to do."

For better or for worse, I put alot of trust into Tommy Smyth's words. There was a time (as recently as right before Korea/Japan 2002) where getting Tommy Smyth to say something positive about the USMNT was difficult. Now that he has a semi-regular position on ESPN News, I can only see this is as a breakthrough...evangelizing the sport we love.

70,000 people in Houston to see "futbol" instead of "football" makes a statement, regardless of ethnic makeup.

Speaking of ESPN news it was nice to be able to see at least some of the Juve, Real Madrid highlights last evening. Its good to see soccer been treated like ever other sport. The anchor saying , and after the break we have soccer news with Tommy Smyth that has a nice ring to it. My only hope is that it does not stop with the end of the champions league. Make sure you let them know you enjoy the coverage.

    How about 90,000 in 1991?

These discussions of "soccer has made it" reek, and I mean REEK or insecurity.

Love your team, love the game. If it gets bigger, just keep lovin' (R)...
