Why is it that since Tommy Smyth has been doing NAT games Bruce in now manager. Is this Tommy Eurosnob showing through. In Europe are all the top men managers. Today JP Dellacamera called the New Zealand head coach and then Tommy comes with his manager stuff. I must admit JP and Tommy worked well as a team. I often dont agree with Tommy. There is no denying that he has a way with words. Like today he told us Simon Elliot took a Red Eye flight to get here . Tommy was in like a flash with a classic when Simon got hit in the face, now he has a Red Eye.
I felt the interviews with the replaced players was very timely. It shows that you can stay informed without the aid of a person on the sideline. Was it me or were the pictures better.

I think its just what the head coach is called over there. Some stuff like that just remains ingrained in your speech pattern unless you make a conscious decision to change it.

Winky protection in the old onion bag!

If he's going to be a manager, he needs to dress in the same uniform as the players. Case closed.

i remember a couple of games back an announcer mentioned that his actual "official" title is US National Team Manager... you know.. come to think of it, i think it was a newspaper article.. LA Times maybe? Either way, Manager is his official title.

The trainer either runs or helps the manager run training.

The manager picks the team, decides tactics, motivates, and sometimes runs training sessions.

Does any of this matter? And since Tommy Smyth is European, how is it snobbish of him to talk like one? He's just being himself.

Actually, ESPN flashed the title "Manager" under Arena's name during a close up shot early in the game. Tommy may have just been reading from the script.

Paxil or Prozac are best used in these situations.

Here's the dead giveaway that you're not dealing with a potential Nobel Laureate.

I would think Bruce could care less what he's called.
    At a mil and a half a year I wouldn't either.

His official title is "Manager." There was a Jeff Bradley article on ESPN.com a few weeks ago that clarified that.
