Legend. Great, great late night host. What I remember most is his progressiveness when it came to booking acts - either he was a genuine fan of rock or had one hell of a booking agent, because he was ALWAYS ahead of the curve when it came to music. It seemed like the Late Late Show was the only place to find punk rock in about 1980.
I watched a show sometime in the last year - wish I could remember the name - but it showed Snyder with some of the acts he booked. Turns out he hadn't a clue about them, but believed it important that they have an audience. They included an interview clip with some verrrry young U2 bandmates that was fairly comical. Unfortunately my strongest memory of Snyder's show isn't one of the host's finer moments. In about 1997, he had author Isabel Allende on, and introduced her as the niece of the "deposed Chilean dictator." Needless to say, she didn't take well to that intro, and off track went the interview. RIP.
