I'm speechless and numb. Fitz was a class act whose personality did a lot to plant the Crew's roots in this community. This is terrible. My thoughts go out to Debbie and the rest of his family...rest in peace, Tom. Sirk
What horrible news. No matter the situation he was always a gracious gentleman. So long, Coach. You did it right.
Me and a friend were just talking about him today at the Maryland-St. John's NCAA quarterfinal today when we were going over the list in the program of prior NCAA champs. Thoughts and prayers to his family.
Really sorry to hear about this. Prayers and best wishes to the family. I'll second the notion for a memorial to him in CCS. Goodbye, coach .
Heartbreaking news indeed. I had the pleasure of meeting Fitz on half a dozen occasions back in the days; he was always a gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with Debi, his two sons, and the rest of the Fitz family. Oh yes, and something in honour of Fitz is in order at the Stadium. RIP Fitz.
This is terrible. I was stunned when I read this thread. How sad. My heart goes out to the great players and teams that he has coached and to his family. UCLA, MLS, U of Tampa and soccer in America was better because of him. Rest in Peace.
I will always remember Fitz for the class act he always was and the many years of joy and passion he helped to foster in Columbus through his duties as coach here. The world is a darker place without you Fitz. Fitz, May The Lord bless you and keep you; May the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. A-men.
Just read the news, from the daily news thread on this site. Let me just say that I am sick to my stomach, and absolutely saddened. Deepest condolences go out to Fitzgerald's family, both immediate and extended, and that includes everyone connected to the Crew, fans especially included.
