Maccabi Haifa's American goalkeeper might be getting a change of scenery. With the UEFA ban lifted and Israeli club teams being allowed to host matches, Maccabi Haifa only will have two matches in order to qualify for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League. That is, if they take the Ligat ha'Al championship this season. Al-Madon hasn't seen very many minutes due to the stellar play of Israeli national team goalkeeper, Nir Davidovic.

If Maccabi Haifa should qualify for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, then Nir Davidovic will stay at the club. However, if they fail to qualify, he will be sold to a club abroad. This could cause the young Tom Al-Madon to find himself as the starting 'keeper. But, there are rumours circulating in the Israeli press that Al-Madon is wanted by Hapoel Petah Tikva and/or might be loaned for next season. More details to come as they become available.

Al-Madon? That's typically an Islamic surname. That would be something. :)

This boy is all Jew though. Many Jews have last names that sound Islamic because their families were thrown out of Islamic countries for being Jewish: Abulafia, Abuhatzira, Jamchi etc.

I've been tracking him in the UEFA Europa League thread. He has made the bench.
